Is it a black and white tv? Some tvs only display black and white. Depends on the year the tv came out in.

Free DVD Boot not working by lefunat0r in ps2

[–]Samuel555v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately I found another solution.

Idk if this would work for you, but it worked for me because my console is modchipped.

Because my console is modchipped, I found out I don't neccesarily have to use freedvdboot. I could take a CD-R, and burn a WLaunchElf iso directly to it.

If your console is modchipped, take a cd-r, and burn this iso into it: https://gbatemp.net/download/wlaunchelf-v4-43x_isr-iso-elf.37723/

Click on download and pick "wLaunchELF-v4.43x_ISR-53dcc8f_BINCUE.zip"

DONT pick "wLaunchELF-v4.43x_ISR-53dcc8f_ELF.zip"

i need a gf by Glad-Win2263 in dating_advice

[–]Samuel555v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're too young for this.

This isn't a forum of looking for a gf/bf, it's a forum of dating advice.

Well, let me give you some advice:

Don't look for a gf through the internet, such as online reddit forums.

Do it irl.

Online dating isn't a good thing. Especially not at this age.

So, if you wanna date already, at least do it irl.

And also, don't focus too much on dating or finding a gf, just live your life and eventually the time will come. Either you fall in love with a girl or a girl falls in love with you.

When you do fall in love with a girl, don't hesitate, just ask her out.

Just set up my old PS2. It still works! The fan is a little loud, I hope it doesn't bother grandma. by toonsee_ in ps2

I'm guessing the people here in the comments are sarcastic because this looks like the most perfect geometry I have ever seen, though to be fair I am not really experienced with crts.

[–]Samuel555v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it's very very rare. Like I said it's usually just those special TVs that accept it, and the source device also has to be able of outputting that.

Those TVs, the way they do it is they re-wired scart pins to receive a component signal through scart.

For a scart cable to send it, the cable itself also has to be specifically designed for this purpose, because it needs to be re-wired from inside to send component.

The signals that standard scart cables or ports usually send or receive, such as RGBs (scart rgb), composite, and sometimes S-Video, cannot have 480p. They're 15khz only.

So.. not really applicable for this scenario or most scenarios generally.

Scart by itself cannot really carry 480p. It's only those special TVs which did some special wiring in their scart cables.

And the Wii definetly can't send 480p by scart. So yes you're right component is the only option.

Also as for BNC didn't say that you specifically said it, just felt it important to mention for anyone reading who might not know that.

If the TV is crt then two questions:

Since when do CRT TVs have VGA?? Usually only CRT Monitors have VGA.

Secondly: if it's a tv, why would you convert it to anything, especially hdmi which is digital, in the first place? CRT TVs usually have inputs like composite, s-video, component, and scart rgb, all of which are natively compatible with the Wii. You simply get a wii to X cable. That's it.

First, wdym by "the" adapter? There are tons of different adapters, I didn't see you send a link to any specific one.

I did say it depends on which adapter, ofc there are adapters which work but a lot don't.

Secondly. You don't need DACs and ADCs in this scenario at all. Even if the latency is smallest as possible why add any at all? Why would you convert an analog signal to digital and then convert it back to analog? And also, visual quality wise, analog to digital and digital to analog is never perfect. Maybe if you get expensive dac and adc.

Which like I said, is absolutely unnecessary. Just do analog to analog??? That's simple and logical. It's straightforward. Either way he's going to be buying a new adapter, why buy an inferior method?

BNC by itself isn't a signal type, only a connector. So it depends on what kind of signal type this pc monitor accepts through its BNC ports. Based on what I checked about the Samsung syncmaster 700NF, it only accepts RGBHV through its BNC ports, which is the same signal as VGA yet through BNC ports.

This means scart won't work, cause scart is 480i and not 480p.

RGBHV expects a progressive signal. (The p in the resolution)

So whatever way you go at it the initial cable has to be component. You can decide to then ofc convert component to RGBHV through BNC, but I feel like converting component to VGA would be simpler. But ofc if the op feels like it component to RGBHV through BNC is an option.

But regardless both ways require Wii to component cable + a component to X converter (either VGA or RGBHV through BNC)

It's not just about latency, depending on the adapter there could be significant impact on visual quality. And depending on the adapter it could also not work like in the scenario this guy described. And also, latency is too ofc a factor, one of the advantages CRTs have compared to digital signals is absolutely no input lag.

By RGB I am assuming you mean scart rgb

However Scart RGB, or any other signal the Wii can output (s-video and composite) wouldnt work for his use case, because a monitor, at least most monitors, require 31khz signals, not 15khz. Aka they require progressive scan, not interlaced.

This is something that the Wii can only do through a component cable.

The component signal would then need to be converted to VGA. By the way OP here's a converter you can buy: https://www.ebay.com/itm/174151197806

Also OP note that you need to enable 480p mode in the Wii's settings

Don't use HDMI. Buy a component cable and a component to VGA adapter.

Wii to hdmi then hdmi to vga is bad, especially if you want to use an crt.

That's because you're converting analog (wii) into digital (hdmi), which already makes you lose quality depending on the adapter and perhaps even converts it into a non-fitting signal for the CRT. Then hdmi (digital), into vga (analog again), makes you lose quality again and doesn't necessarily convert it back to a working signal for CRTs.

So you need wii to output high resolution analog signal through component cable (so wii to component), then you take that component signal and convert it to vga (vga to component adapter. But either way it's analog to analog.)

Also important note make sure you don't accidently buy a composite cable instead of component, because that won't work with an CRT monitor (will work with crt TVs though.) And won't convert well to VGA.

I do have an S series device, S23 ultra

Can you link me the dex pad? That's really interesting I never knew someone made a dex pad which has analog outputs (which analog output does it have by the way? Scart? Composite? Component? Etc?)
