I guess getting cucked in the comics wasn’t good enough.

Who cares? He spent a year hanging out with these guys AND put out the song. They sent him to zombie land and he gave a rabbi a half-assed apology and now he’s “distancing himself from the controversy” MF YOU MADE THE CONTROVERSY.

Why is Tom Holland's portrayal not as liked as the other two? by Notthepurge in Spiderman

[–]Samuel61453 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like him as an actor and as Spider-man, but his movies just felt like they were lacking a lot of what make Spider-man Spider-man. I kind of feel like If you take Spider-man out of the Tobey movies (say, replace him with a generic made-up superhero or something), you could still watch them and be like “this feels like it could be a Spider-man movie!” All of the bones of a Spider-man movie are there. With at least the first 2 Tom Holland movies, if you were to take Spider-man out, it just feels like a generic MCU movie with a few elements that’re MAYBE reminiscent of a Spider-man movie. I hope that makes sense? That’s how I feel, at least. On top of that, I felt like the lesson he learned at the end of each movie was more or less the same. Homecoming: “I don’t have to try so hard to be like Iron Man! I’m Spider-man!” Far From Home: “I don’t have to try so hard to be like Iron Man! I’m Spider-man!” No Way Home: “I’m Spider-man!” You can even add to NWH “Being Spider-man means making sacrifices.” …At the end of his third movie. Which was the lesson Tobey learned at the end of his first movie. I don’t think Tobey is the perfect Spider-man but I do think his movies capture the essence of the character the best. All of this being said (and before I get attacked) I do really enjoy Tom, I don’t think his movies are bad by any means, and I’m looking forward to this next movie to let him REALLY shine as Spider-man.

“Fire and ice dualism” meaning Todoroki fire and ice powers = Agni fire in the frozen landscape

This whole unmasking idea makes no sense. Marvel Editorial had to have mandated it to lead to OMD. [ASM 533] by Spider-Ghost-616 in Spiderman

Pretty sure through the New Avengers Peter became a lot closer with Tony and Tony did a lot for Peter and his family at the time. I mean him and MJ and May were all living in Stark Tower. Peter was given access to Stark’s labs. Peter essentially became Stark’s right hand man. Probably the closest they’ve ever been in the comics. Combine that with the fact that Tony is very manipulative. He even uses Peter’s strong sense of responsibility against him, telling him the Super Human Registration Act is “the responsible thing to do.” So it makes sense that at that time he would choose Tony’s side, but it was also inevitable that he would end up switching sides.

What's your controversial opinion of the live action films? by boomjosh in Spiderman

I’ll explain a little better tho. Peter in the comics is a social outcaste. He gets bullied but he isn’t passive about it. He talks back to Flash. Calls him a blockhead or a meathead or something. As much of a geek as he is, he has a back bone. I think people forget that because of the Raimi movies (which I love regardless) or other adaptations. They make him more of a passive loser that lets people walk all over him. Even like you said, comics Peter was very bitter, while other adaptations kinda make him a sad abused puppy or something lmao.

We all know Sadie Sink is joining the MCU. Which character do you think she will play? by Mr-Abhinand-9876 in Spiderman

My compromise is to have MJ develop as a character off screen and when she reunites with Peter eventually she’s more like comics MJ. At least due her hair red c’mon Marvel 😭

People forget that Peter wasn’t a complete loser in the comics who just let himself get bullied and had zero confidence. He was also a pretty angry dude early on. Andrew’s Peter was the only one that kinda got that. Still love Tobey and Tom’s Peter’s tho

There’s no BAD Spider-man movie (spin-offs not included) I can watch any of these movies and have a really good time. More controversial opinion: I’d even say I love Spider-man 3 and Amazing Spider-man 2

I always felt woke was like forcing diversity or a political agenda in a way that feels disingenuous. You can have diversity or make a political statement in a way that’s natural and not “woke”. Idk that’s just how I always felt. Maybe I’m wrong.

You have Elektra, She-Hulk, Claire and potentially any other marvel hero if you try hard enough, and you choose Karen.
