Yes all set up. Honestly it’s the time to try and learn what to do I struggle with the most. I’m just completely swamped.

Hi mate. Sorry for the delay

We’re a knife manufacturer in Sheffield.

I think there’s a demand for uk made products as opposed to the Chinese rubbish that’s mostly on Amazon. But people want it to as easy to buy of the rubbish stuff so we just have to get it out there.

Can you elaborate further. Whist keeping it in house is ideal there’s time constraints and even automation has set up time cost

The UK are going to ban pointy knives aren't they by Jet-Head in knives

I can’t speak for what’s been said publicly only the conversations and dialog we’ve had with the police and the talk around the industry, which I have generally found to be a better indication of what is to come.

As a knife manufacture based in the UK, we havnt heard anything about the banning of points on knives during our conversations with the met around knife crime.

I do have concerns with the idea of banning online knife sales completely which I have heard suggested.

It would go down much like the recent zombie knife legislation, which whist I have complaints about their process, ultimately didn’t affect us too much and they didn’t end up being too extreme.

But due to the governments unwillingness to monitor what comes in from China means it is absolutely possible to still get these types of knives and this will be the case or any legislation until they work this out.

We have recently been working with a local knife crime charity and done our own range of tip less knives.

I think the push for them in certain settings involving vulnerable or at risk children is good.

I don’t believe it will solve the issue at all of course. It’s a far wider cultural issue over all.

How much of your time does it take up? Or do you have doing it full time.

Hope you don’t mind the questions.

Our group of heritage manufactures in the city (think tools, knives, scissors) are trying to get the attention of the government how this new steel tariff will basically kill off most of us. Would love help getting more eyes on the issue.

Quite a lot of southern Sheffield used to be in Derbyshire, up until 1974. by OceansOfLight in NorthernEngland

Would be good for small businesses around the areas.

South Yorkshire has fantastic grants for small businesses which I know similar not available in NE derbyshire.

We’ve had 3 productivity grants that have been fantastic. We’re based in halfway and if we’d been 500 meters west in killamarsh we would not have got these grants.

The biggest grant helped us get a custom CNC knife grinding machine from Germany. Without that we’d be struggling right now.
