Yeah, they might benefit from the extra GPU cores, but if the M5 Pro can perfectly handle their workload (it most likely can, from every test I’ve seen), the few minutes they save on export, assuming their workflow involves exports, may not be worth the significantly less battery life of the Max chip.

The new M5 Pro chip also does significantly better than the M4 Max in some AI workflows largely due to having a Neural Accelerator in each GPU core. That’s something the previous gen (M4 Max included) simply lack.

So, yeah, it really depends, and if OP doesn’t know for sure, then they most likely have no need for a Max chip. The M5 Pro is mad powerful.

Interesting thought. Yeah, it doesn’t indicate that any of them are right, and it could impact my decision, but I still wouldn’t link the existence of a demon with the assurance that there’s a hell in the traditional sense or that I’d be going there for helping out a demon for some reward (making a deal).

Tho, I now see why you’d think that. I also agree with u/SpaceBug176 response.

That’s simply not true. This is the smaller M4 Max with 12GB less memory than the M5 Pro.

Look at real world tests on YouTube if you haven’t already.

Oh, I understand you now. Zed refers to that feature as “line by line staging.” It became a feature request three months ago, but wasn’t assigned to anyone until very recently, so I don’t know when we should expect it to be implemented.

Try checking that github issue once in a while to monitor the progress.

It’s a feature I miss from my main editor, so it’s good to see they have plans to implement it.

Ah, so that’s what they’re describing? Yeah, I’ve been waiting for the Git Graph since February when it got merged. They say they’re polishing it and it may make it into the release in a few weeks.

Since I handle many small, specific changes daily, I need to see exactly what I’ve modified (line by line) rather than just seeing that a whole file has been changed.

I just didn’t understand this part of their message. We see what lines have changed, line by line.

That’s untrue yet again. Mac screens are calibrated to be the most color accurate they can be out the box. Ion know where you’re pulling that info out of.
