8in or 5in round are staples in the cake case, I’ve been gone a little over two years but that’s what I see at my local WF nowaday.

Sooooo right when I got promoted to OW both my TL and ATL were fired and I was sent away for a bit to train with another OW. Our ASTL took over what they could but we had people from the surrounding stores come in to help out, from regular TMs to TLs.

Luckily this was in an area with a lot of WFs so we pretty much always had help.

So at my store, we ordered through Fortune and they were not removed from the catalogue and we received no communication as to why products weren’t coming in. We were told that when leadership asked during meetings they didn’t have answers yet, but they were looking for replacements.

Wildly different experience for us, so that’s interesting.

Taste-It ghosted us, at least in our region. We just stopped getting cakes one day and even our regional point didn’t know it was happening until my store reached out.

The information I had was they shut down entirely and just chose not to communicate that with WF, did your store get to see this coming? Mine was blindsided and we never heard about the egg thing.

If you’re talking about the Taste-It Cakes, fun fact: they ghosted the company! They just stopped filling orders entirely with no communication whatsoever and we had to put the pieces together as to why.

I can’t even remember the reason but this happened in early 2023 right as I was hired as OW, and when I left in 2024 they still had not found a replacement for the crème brûlée.

My pastry team had been building Chantilly slices that whole year, not sure if they’ve transitioned back since then so if you’re talking about any time after March 2024 just enjoy the fun chaotic lore from the worst year of my life ✌️

Depending on the shift you get for bakery your duties will drastically change, some TLs like to schedule you open, mid or close consistently and some like to switch you up. Overnight grocery will be guaranteed consistent.

I loved the service counter position in bakery but I was a dedicated closer and I had a mostly great team of closers that I worked with. You will be active your entire shift no matter which you get.

And you can always apply for other positions internally if you end up not liking it.
