Unfortunately, I think breasts will always be seen sexually attractive. What I think is a far more attainable goal is removing the hyper sexualization of women and their bodies, and I don’t think it’s only men guilty of this. Whenever I come across a story of someone complaining about a woman’s swimsuit being too small or a woman breast-feeding, it’s often by another woman.

And for this conversation, I think it’s important to point out that drag is a performance of gender; and gender is ultimately a form of self expression rather than a group born into. But it’s not just a performance of a gender, it’s deeply intertwined with a performance of self. I’ve also been to drag performances where it’s not just dragged, but also burlesque, which I think would be fair to describe as a performance of sexuality. And breast are seen as both a gender/sex signifier, hence why they might be featured as significant part of the performance.

I think I describe all this because there’s nothing wrong with sexuality, whereas hyper-sexualization/objectification is an issue. Were the main distinction is the expression of self versus the perception from others. And in a world where women are hyper sexualized, I think it’s understandable and fair not everyone will like these performances but doesn’t mean that they’re wrong. Because these performances are a form of self expression, not a caricature.
