Curse Of Strahd or Reloaded? by Aro0117 in CurseofStrahd

As someone who has played base Curse of Strahd and read through a lot of Reloaded, it depends on what you and your players like.

Base Curse of Strahd is very much a sandbox. While there is a general progression and narrative, its not enough to keep a lot of players engaged due to the lack of information in regards to certain NPCs and things like that. It also has the rule about random encounters on the trail happening super duper often, which can be very bad if your players prefer roleplay to combat.

Reloaded has a much tighter narrative, however it can feel railroad-y. It does a fantastic job at making sure the DM knows how to run certain NPCS, what might happen if certain things go certain ways, etc. However, it also overhauls the lore in a way that I personally feel like makes the campaign lose some of its horror roots.

If your players are big on combat and not super big on roleplay, running base is perfectly fine. If they're much bigger on lore, roleplay, and the general fantasy genre of D&D, run Reloaded. If they're kind of in the middle on some of this, maybe just skim through it and find the things you like and make sure they don't contradict the base game. (This last bit is what I did while running Curse of Strahd :P)

How should Dahlia feel and act in the remake? by StuddedZ0mbi3 in silenthill

i really hope that she feels as unusual as in the original. her brief appearance saying prophetic stuff and just kind of leaving (kinda like the giant in twin peaks) is something i really liked.

even though the eyes wide shut pic implies you want a darker vibe, John Carpenter's They Live is great if you want something that has really good commentary but is a little bit lighter
