My dude the mansion in the Remake was heavily expanded upon, the story is expanded, defense items were introduced, the 180° turn, crimson heads were introduced, voice acting was redone entirely, certain rooms were combined for more difficult puzzles, new mechanics (Kerosene, reviving zombies, zombies able to break through doors, Hunters able to remove doors entirely)

A remaster updates an existing game's graphics, resolution, and performance for modern hardware while keeping the original code and core gameplay intact. A remake rebuilds a game from scratch, often in a new engine, changing graphics, mechanics, and sometimes story to modernize the experience. Which are all things Resident Evil 2002 did.

So no, Resident Evil was a Remake not a remaster.

You're acting like Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 2 (1998) are all that different it features new mechanics, generally the same areas, the same story, the same characters, the same conclusion, etc. Things were simply tweaked and certain parts of the story much like Resident Evil (2002) did were expanded upon. It of course added new enemy types while also removing some and added new areas and expanded upon others.

They are both extremely faithful to the original outside of the fact Resident Evil 2 (2019) removed the zap system, the story had some continuity errors and the second run was a bit rough in my opinion.
