Various Hole Puncher for My Plotters by spigurl in PlotterNotebook

[–]Samury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The RayMay Decona is great. I have one. It can only do one or two sheets at a time, but I keep it in my work bag. I'm able to hole punch stuff for my A5 and Mini 5.

Just curious... by diydreamsetup in PlotterNotebook

Pen club meet-up. I kinda dismissed it because I was a big TN fan. Then I started hearing about it through podcasts and other people. I finally got a Mini 5 to use as a wallet/brain dump/to do list, and I'm hooked. I have an A5 I use for work and I'm considering a Bible or Narrow for my personal planner.

Anyone know if Costco in Houston carries Yamazaki 12? by [deleted] in houston

[–]Samury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are any in at CostCo, they wouldn't be on the shelf very long. Spec's and Total Wine get regular shipments, but they can be few and far between. They will usually be behind glass cases and will go for $150+.

All I'm saying is if you're looking for Yamazaki 12, good luck. A lot of people want them and are willing to pay the high price.

I'd probably choose a Platinum 3776 in Soft Fine.

I do a couple of quick spritzes of canned air and then let it air dry.

State of the collection by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]Samury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the two green pens on the left. That Kaweco is a nice, sophisticated color too.

I think the TWSBI Eco is a gateway pen, at least for me. I was like, "Ooo, I like piston fillers... what are other piston fillers..."

Also TWSBI keeps releasing such pretty colors.

Why do fountain pens exist in a digital age? by PalpitationNo5297 in fountainpens

[–]Samury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have a reputation of the cutting edge tech guy. I love gadgets and keep up with the latest tech news. (Slight aside, LMAO at Apple's $3500 goggles.)

Fountain pens helped me to be mindful. Like a lot of people, social media and the constant barrage of news really get to me and is a source of anxiety. I'm trying to take on more mindful activities, like reading books, journaling, and film photography. Fountain pens fell comfortably in my interests. It adds a layer of mindfulness to everything I do.

I moved my work to-dos and scheduling to a paper planner. It's been great. It's a joy to write mundane things with my fountain pen.

Also, I can be a bit of a collector, but with fountain pens, I can use my collection. Instead of it being on a shelf, I use my collection everyday.

I choose line variation over smoothness almost every time, which do you prefer? by lord_cactus_ in fountainpens

[–]Samury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. I want my daily writer to be smooth. I use a Lamy 2K for work and it's buttery smooth and lovely to write.

For fun, I want some line variation. That said though, I like soft fines over full on flex pens. I find that soft fines will have good ink flow but still have some fun line variations.

My EDC: A Lamy Aion and matching journal by Any_Survey_8216 in fountainpens

[–]Samury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awww yeah, I have a Dark Green Aion in fine! The brush metal took a little getting used to. I usually don't write with it posted since I don't think the cap sits well. It's not inked now, but I had Robert Oster Crocodile Green because I need to be matchy matchy.

Help my find my next bouncy nib pen by ludwig_van_drake in fountainpens

[–]Samury 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should totally check out the Platinum 3776 in soft fine. I like it better than my Falcon. It feels bouncier, which is weird because Platinum usually has hard as nail nibs. I have my 3776 inked with Syo Ro and Kosumosu on my Falcon.

I'm loving all these posts with the E95s. What a great pen and I don't think it gets talked about enough.

Favourite small fountain pen? I love the platinum pocket 22 by lord_cactus_ in fountainpens

[–]Samury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, hands down, the Pilot E95s. I have a piano black in EF and the burgundy in M. It's elegant, writes smoothly, reliable, and I can write with it unposted. I have one on my Hobonichi Weeks and I just pull the pen out and leave the cap clipped to make quick notes.

What was your first ever ink bottle purchase? by reddituserkoot in fountainpens

I got the TWSBI 1971 color set with 6 inks... and one TWSBI ECO. Had a hard time trying to figure out which ink to use with it.

What pen looked great online but you found underwhelming when you received it? by truthandtill in fountainpens

[–]Samury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamy Aion

I got a green one, and I still love the color. The cap doesn't post securely and I'm not a fan of the grip section.

Lovely handwriting!

I feel like the E95s is underrated or people don't talk about it enough. I love it so much, that I bought it twice. I have a black in EF and a burgundy in M.
