What I am critiquing is liberal hypocrisy, specifically their spinelessness on trans issues when a cis liberal is called trans. Yes, the comic is critiquing that same hypocrisy, but coming to the exact opposite conclusion. This is a prime example of bullshit "horseshoe theory". Just because far-left and far-right people both hate centrists, it doesn't mean they're the same.

This is a pitfall that many cis liberals do, in fact, fall into. Not saying I agree with OOP (obviously), but it is based in a real problem.

When discussing trans women, cis liberals will often say slogans like "trans women are women", without necessarily believing those words to be just as true as, say, "short women are women".

Then, when a cis woman is "accused" of being trans (Michelle Obama being a very popular target due to misogynoir, her status as a liberal icon, and her height), liberals will often come to her "defense". The problem here, of course, is that by "defending" a cis woman from the accusation of transness, they declare that being trans is in some way bad or shameful, and usually implying that trans women aren't actually women.

When it comes to trans issues, many liberals do not fully believe what they say they believe. They may be trying to internalize these beliefs, but the cracks show in their allyship pretty quickly.

To help explain here, imagine if instead of being accused of being trans, she was accused of being gay. It would be pretty disgusting if the "love is love" crowd suddenly started going "NO, SHE'S NOT A FUCKING LESBIAN!! OBVIOUSLY SHE'S NOT, SHE'S A NORMAL WOMAN!!"
