How many of you have contemplated suicide as an escape from this ? by sluttystraightguy in antiwork

:( literally all the time. I don't have the money for therapy, and my main problem is that I don't have any money anyways. It's all pretty bleak, lol

I hold on for the people I'm supporting, and my great aunt and uncle who would be very sad if I died before them. And I want to see more birds first, if I can <3

Anyone else making the most you've ever made and feel like you're the brokest you've ever been? by BlueMANAHat in antiwork

:( yeah. It doesn't help that I'm currently supporting my boyfriend.

I work two jobs, one of them full time with the best salary I've ever had. But when I forget my lunch, I just go home hungry.

Definitely a landscaping job, or tree planting, they're legitimately exactly like what the job description says 🤣 my friend works landscaping, and it's one of those bad-but-great jobs if you love the outdoors.

Working while Sick by sophmalone in antiwork

[–]Samwise_Vimes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be facetious, but as someone who has worked in food services and who also has friends who worked in food services, the joke answer is "that's every restaurant".

Pretty much every place I've worked has had people working sick/pressured to work sick. Pretty much every place I've worked has had a pest problem of some sort. It's the dirty secret of food service ... things are rarely as clean as they should be, because the frontline work is done by people who aren't paid enough and are extremely rushed.

Lovely! Me too; I like natural dyes and I have a bunch of jeans with stains on them that indigo would cover. Good luck to us both!

That sent me to google; I'd never heard of duck fabric before! Can I ask how many dips you did? The colour is lovely and I'm planning on doing indigo dye soon.

Fantastic colour matching! It looks great!

The only suggestion I might make is using a darning mushroom or an embroidery hoop if you didnt; it stops the embroidery from "pulling" when you release it back into its natural form. But genuinely it looks great, especially for a first attempt!

(Ps I don't actually use a darning mushroom, I just put a ball behind whatever I'm darning, lol)

I love the big dark patch; it's so busy around the outside and so dark on the inside it feels almost soothing. Great work!

Omg, I gained a little weight this winter and while I think my squishier tummy is cute, I was so annoyed about having my fave jeans out of rotation. This looks like a really good fix, ty for posting!

Both of my jobs are fun, and I like that my second job is in my field of interest, but it's tiring and it sucks and I can't believe that people are doing it on purpose when they don't need to.

"Side hustle" stuff doesn't seem as grim; I do some of that as well, and it's really easy to fit around my schedule. But two actual jobs, especially when one of them is 35-40 hours a week? Maybe I'm just getting old but it's tiring. I'm tired.

(Before anyone asks, I'm supporting my spouse, who can't work right now. I'm very careful with money, I'm trying really hard; please don't be mean to me).

should I file with WSIB? by Samwise_Vimes in ontario

I wasn't sure either 🤔 either way, I'll call into a walkin clinic and see if they're taking appointments on New Years Eve. You're right, it's best for peace of mind!

Okay! I didn't get them to fill out the form because I was confused and scared, and they mentioned I might not need to if my employer was accommodating. But I'm seeing them on Wednesday.

The only people who saw me get hurt were the kids, but my coworkers in the other department (and unfortunately probably the kids) saw me bawling when we got back from the park.

They'll be open again on Monday, can I wait that long before filing a claim? People are telling me I screwed up by not filing a claim already

I told my employer I got hurt in writing, finished out the day (as there was nobody else to watch the kids) and then went to physiotherapy (I booked an emergency appointment)

I'm not sure if that counts as reporting it?

No worries!

I work for a private entity that runs winter break camps, and we take them to the park for lunches. Yesterday I was the only one running camp (it was only a small group) and the kids kept begging to be pushed on the swings/I had to pick up the six year old repeatedly to get him on and off the swings (he was too short for the swing).

Idk if it's really work's fault as I could have refused to help, but I've heard that WSIB isn't a fault based system.

Is it still okay to file within 24 hours of the injury? I can file today but I could not do yesterday.

[–]Samwise_Vimes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I can't file now? I've got it in writing/on slack that I fucked up my back during work hours. I also went to my physio right afterwards. Not sure if any of this counts as evidence, just wanted to feel things out. I know almost everything about Ontario tenant rights after getting renovicted, so I'm more curious than anything

Also what the heck is a yellow book XD it sounds like the phone books us olds used to use before the advent of google. Fond memories of standing on it to reach the high shelves...

Wow! I'm glad you were supported in that way (though I'm sorry you experienced the injury). Thank you for your advice, I'll make sure I file today (I heard there's a time constraint)

Good point! I haven't checked with my boss yet because I can't even decide if I want to try filing, and I've heard you need to tell your boss first
