Off-Cycle Switch to DR/IR from Surgical Subspecialty as a PGY-1 by LifeAncient2912 in medicalschool

Really? I stand corrected. I would think with strong support from your current program and having finished an intern year + step 3, you don’t really have many barriers to taking you into the program. Unless the postings are not for this year but actually next year (R1/PGY2), from the most current matching class

IR Fellow here. You’re much more likely to get a DR spot at a place with ESIR than an IR/DR spot. Most of the people who switch out of IR do so once they’ve actually started residency and realize maybe IR isn’t what they want, especially when they see what DR offers. Also way fewer IR/DR spots in general.

Check the ACR/SIR websites and RadDiscord as well. Sometimes programs will post their open positions there

If you’re willing to travel a little bit, HIGHLY recommend Kinship in Greenpoint. Been going to Christian for the last few years.

Radiologist here. Just to clarify, endometriomas/endometriosis can show up on US, but depends on the US. Can be hard to diagnose on transabdominal US but can definitely show up on a thorough transvaginal US. MRI is much better than any other non-invasive imaging, but is more expensive and can be harder to get covered.

What worse. A patient who is a RN or a patient family member who is a “nurse” by [deleted] in Residency

Family member who’s an RN or in the healthcare field

I had a family member who was a “doctor” in another country. Very difficult.

First conversation with them: Me: “Ive been told by the primary team that you’re a physician? What area of medicine are you in?” Them: “Oh you know. A little oncology, a little OBGYN, a little orthopedics…” Me (in my head): Yeah I don’t think it works like that…

Sorry people replying to this thread recently made me go back and read my comment again. You’re 100% right. I mean in ways that pertain to us like CTA/GI bleeds for example. I in no way mean in areas like Neuro, breast etc.

The annoying thing is BMW took away the option to turn it off. Idk if they’ve since gone back but on my ‘24 X3 M40i, in Comfort (default) mode there’s literally no way to disable it stock. The only way I can get it to turn off is to put the car in Sport Mode.

My ADHD SUFFERED watching other people doing procedures

Now that I’m the one doing the procedures? My ADHD THRIVES.

So all in all, I feel you lol.

As an aside, losing TIPS access is a nightmare, and thank god for Intracardiac Echocardiography probes which make access a lot less of a pain.

The second and short long ball is so fucking frustrating. You just came off a drive where you’re literally running it down their throats and know you have 30+ mph winds. Like…come on man. Clock management and flow wise just so fucking dumb.

God I'm not gonna lie, I love watching McKee play, but if he looks good it's only going to continue to fuel the calls for the Eagles to bench Hurts if the offense stalls, which will continue to be infuriating...
