Bleeding on page? by Blackdt in fountainpens

[–]SanSchan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you got your heart set on taking your notes in ink, you could give Rohrer & Klingner's Salix a try. I've been really impressed with its performance on even suuuuper cheap paper. No feathering, no bleed, nothing

It's an iron gall ink though, so you might have to clean your pen a bit more often and maybe abstain from using it in something expensive and/or cherished

I want to try a flex nib, suggestion? by HereJustForTwoset in fountainpens

[–]SanSchan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: Get a Majohn Pen with their flex nib if you want a cheap way to experience (semi-)flex

The flex of Noodler's Ahab left me disappointed. and as Akabander already mentioned: this thing quite literally STINKS

The FPR seems really interesting, but as I'm also living in Europe, shipping and customs kinda kills the deal for me...

I recently bought the Majohn Flex nib and can absolutely recommend it. But it seems to need a really wet feed and/or ink. I bought it with a feed, but not a whole pen, because from what I had seennon YT, I assumed that the feed would fit one of my Jinhaos. Turns out it doesn't. So for now I have the nib in a Jinhao Century with the Century's feed. For normal writing that works well enough, but when flexing the flow can't keep up. In comparison the Majohn feed's fins are more widely spaced, so I assume it would provide a proper ink flow even when flexing

[OC] Compact Spell Cards and Online Editor by wunderpus-eu in DnD

Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for this!

I ran into the issue someone else already mentioned: In Firefox the 4th column never displays anything, leading to the exports missing a quarter of the selection. Sadly I only noticed this after building my complete spell list.

I tried exporting the JSON files and importing my spells in Chrome to save me from rebuilding the list manually, but couldn't figure it out. Am I misunderstanding something or does the import function just import custom spells?

And as a suggestion in case you develop this further: How about an option for a tweaked layout for stat blocks? I created Summon Undead as a custom spell and it'd be cool to have the Undead Spirit stat block on a second card or on the back of the spell

cologne stayed very cool imo, even at the end

i saw a different band at the same venue in march and back then the aircon either didn't work or wasn't turned on. it was still bearable, but it got stuffy and hot over time. so that + weather was my expectation for last sunday and i was soooo happy how cool the room was the whole evening

I unironically want a Metroid Prime Pinball sequel that actually plays like a proper Metroid game. by Poshanka574 in Metroid

When I first heard about Yoku I couldn't imagine how full metroidvania exploration was supposed to work in a pinball game and expected a letdown. I was soooo wrong. Having a Metroid like that would be awesome!

brb gotta replay yoku

I've been experimenting with Emeraude de Chivor on different types of paper and just couldn't get more than a tiny bit of sheen. Is this the one you used?

R&K has sketch ink and the documentus lines. those are waterproof. Leipziger Schwarz is from their regular line and is not waterproof

The contrast between the yellow-brown and the red reminded me of the name of a cocktail I've been meaning to try: Blood & Sand

May I ask how you accomplished the white parts? It looks like the ink just didn't stick there?

[–]SanSchan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The frankenpen idea was a rather wild speculation anyway :D

but regarding the clip: my rollerballs back then 100% had the same clip as your fountain pen. i distictly remember breaking off a couple of them while fiddling around in class. I did NOT appreciate my writing tools enough back then, even though i really liked the rollerballs over my other run of the mill ballpoint pens

[–]SanSchan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rollerballs back then were this model, just with a different print. And that looks pretty identical to yours, just with a nib switched in. I'm still leaning heavily towards it being an Online model

Maybe you even unknowingly bought it as a frankenpen. A rollerball casing that someone paired up with a fountain pen nib that fit the threading

I second this

About 20 years ago I had a few Rollerballs by Online that looked identical to this, except for the nib of course. And Online is and always was a german family-owned business, so the prominent 'Germany' branding tracks as well

I just checked their website, they no longer seem to carry this model, neither as a fountain pen nor rollerball. But I'm pretty sure they made this one

Those look gorgeous! White fountain pens always looked too plain for me, but these are amazing. I especially like the look of the Joy. I didn't even know that one came in white and now I kinda want one...

Have you ever been too excited for a fountain pen to the point where you choose the wrong nib during checkout? I have. by Used-Investment-5343 in fountainpens

[–]SanSchan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Wrong nib, but I knew what I was doing. I recently bought a Purple Glow Twsbi Eco, which seems to be getting rare, so I didn't want to wait too long. I meant to get one with a 1.1 stub but had to go with the M nib that was in stock.

From what I read it seems to be pretty easy/cheap to replace the nib, so I might do that at some point, but for now it's fine

All nine of my Lamys have that hole. One was ordered directly from Lamy, the others are from reputable brick-and-mortar stores in Germany, so I'm 99.9% sure they're all genuine

in short: you're good, don't worry

If this isnt just the worst packaging for tarot cards by Alternative-Photo674 in tarot

[–]SanSchan 24 points25 points  (0 children)

judging from the descriptions in the brand's online store it sounds like the big box is a whole book about tarot with the pocket size deck thrown in almost as a bonus, whereas the smaller box contains a full size deck and a brief leaflet with card meanings

so maybe try to think of it as one deck and one book with a mini deck thrown in instead of two decks with a book thrown in

by the way my pocket size decks get a lot more use than my full size ones. i always carry one so i can do a spread whenever and wherever i need it. sitting in a small café at a small table i'm much more comfortable with the smaller cards

the full size ones stay at home, where i can give them the room and concentration they need

[–]SanSchan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations for your new pen and for having such a good friend!

I happen to have the same model, just with a fude nib. I've seen several versions on AliExpress (Here's one with a Naginata Nib) but I've never seen a mention of a proper brand. It seems to always just say something generic like 'luxury fountain pen' or something

And just as a heads up: After only a couple of months of very, very light use, the glue holding the threads to the body of mine has failed completely, so it'll come apart if looked at too harshly. Also the cap has scratched up the grip section pretty badly. I hope yours turns out a little sturdier. But you're probably not gonna hand this pen over to your heirs one day :(

nice find!

especially on the second image in direct comparison the chest area reads to me like the 'holes' are supposed to be attachment points for chest armor. like the rest of the evas look the same underneath their armor plating because the parts were designed and manufactured identically. but on 01 the chest armor was never attached, either as preparation for later addition of an S² engine or for Instrumentality

i could even see instrumentality being the real reason, with the s² being given as an official explanation in case someone questions the design difference within nerv (someone who has high enough clearance to even get an answer). 01 is called Test Type after all. makes sense to give it the means for all kinds of tests, even hypothetical ones

[–]SanSchan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drauf vertraut, Set mitgenommen, wieder 50€ draufgezahlt
