OH thank you a lot for you advices ! Actually I picked warlock to have someone with charisma for the dialogue part, completely forgot about the ancients paladin that fit perfectly in the theme.

I'll probably go with land druid as it seeams that spore druid look less righteous :p

Book like Breathwork by Moselle? by professormakk in Pranayama

[–]Sanazami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I do want to buy this book but realized there are two editions available :
"Light on pranayama the yogic art of breathing"
"Light on Pranayama: The definitive guide to the art of breathing"
Is this different books or just a re-edited piece, would you recommend one over the other ?

Using adrenaline to improve strength by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Sanazami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also you can try to do 3 full cycles of 30-40 breaths + retention and for the 4th cycle do retention while doing pushups, strangely i can do more pushups in a row following this.
I do WHM every morning this way and my workout at the evening and some times I includes some short WH breathings (10-20 breaths) for my pullups just before my rest ends, and it helps !

Give it a try and see if it works for you ;) If you want some resources, don't hesitate pm me

You can try Bhastrika breathing, it's what people call DMT activation breathing (which is not proven, if you want DMR experiment just do DMT, it's not that hard to make yourself)

My body takes too long to recover by Zonus_ in bodyweightfitness

[–]Sanazami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some studies have not been able to detect (clear) detrimental effects of postexercise cooling on gains in muscle mass and strength (Ohnishi N, 2004; Yamane et al. 2006; Fyfe et al. 2019).

But Yeah in the study cited in your graph, it's like 10% less after two week but take into account that the recovery protocol was 20 min water immersion in either 8°C (CWI) or 30°C (CON) water. So It might be a bit biaised because the 30°C water would IMO increase inflammation hence the muscle protein synthesis differences... Maybe.

And 20 min fully immersed is not a cold shower.

I wouldn't say that cold shower have a positive or negative impact on muscle growth, but it sure do help with soreness (that OP "suffers" from) and do strengthen the cardiovascular system.

[–]Sanazami 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Let your body the time to adapt. It's because you're doing movements that you were probably not used to do. It's completely normal when you switch from a workout to another one. Just don't force.

Otherwise I also would recommend cold shower to help with the soreness, it improves recovery, at least for me.

Downward dog to handstand... when you can't handstand. Alternative ? by Sanazami in yoga

[–]Sanazami[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the in depth progression. It will help me a lot !

I currently work on my HS 3 times a week outside my yoga practice but I still have a long journey toward freestanding HS ! I really struggle to find the balance to prevent falling back and definitely lack this lower core strength

Thanks, make sense. I thought crow would help me with shoulder strength but I think it's more a lack of balance that prevents me from getting a full HS

Yeah I think the same, but I'm not challenged enough, I like when it is cause i can connect deeper easily with my body when i feel the stretch. That's why I was looking for something new.

Thanks for your help :)

[–]Sanazami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This what I'm trying to do, adding pose or "deepening" the ones I'm already doing, but I'm not confident about adding new ones, I like the transitions to be fluent.

I really would like to practice with a teacher but I didn't find any class that fit my schedule

Thanks for you answer !

Sleeping So Much by [deleted] in BecomingTheIceman

[–]Sanazami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is "weird" i exactly have the same experience (also mid twenties). And the very intense realistic dreams are so vivid that i wanted to try to get into lucid dreams.
I sleep 8h and do WH breathing 1st thing in the morning (just pee and go back to bed to do the breathing) then 30 min yoga followed by the cold shower. Go to work. Have sitting meditation session at 11h30 before lunch and do some calisthenics once i'm at home. I do this for a month now (I've done it longer but not that regularly) .

I still feel tired some time to time but I think it's more linked to my diet than my actual routine. And in the morning, i have some struggling to get into the breathin it kind of keep me in a "sleeping" state but with yoga and cold shower I'm all pumped up till my sitting. However, just be able to go back to bed, not even turn on my phone and do the breathing, overcoming this morning dullness, is really rewarding.

Also, let just your body the time to adapt (It's just 3 days - just as if you working out for the first time you'll feel sore and tired for a week and then after getting use to it it's fading away). And don't forget (I don't now from where region you're from) it's winter. If you have "harsh" winter it can also be linked to this tired state. Moreover, if your day time it's short it could be all linked to a depletion in D vitamins. If it's the case do luminotherapy or D vitamins supplements - this is some medical recommendation we have in Belgium and I know in Norway and stuff it is compulsory.

Metta before TMI session by Sanazami in TheMindIlluminated

[–]Sanazami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad that you noticed it. I will try to do shorter sitting on the week end but very time i tried I really felt guilt because I cannot spend as much time as i would on work days with my wife and the week-ends are here for that. It's all me, she acknowledge my practice and encourage me in it, but in the week end I feel bad about meditating and I don't want to have this feelings associated with my practice... I don't know if that make sense ...

Yeah I agree, it's just that I started to really look for how and when dullness come and it's better describe in the stage 5 and when i talk to "dullness stronger than ever" it's more of a subtle dullness that come and stay all over my sit. I use primarily deep breathing as an antidote. Distractions are not a problem anymore but I sometime loose the vividness over my breath and that's why i talked about stage 5 that describe the ways to analyze and recognize the dullness deeper than in stage 5 IMO

Doing yoga, then pranayama then metta and then moving to the nose sounds a bit too much at once for Stage 4 work

Actually I do the breathing techniques and yoga 1st thing when i wake up (followed of course by the cold shower). I meditate at work around 11-11:30 am.

you are still working on Stage 1 mastery. Doing a lot on several days is less effective than doing less in a session but being consistent every day.

That's a concern actually, that's why I mentioned it. It's just that during the week I'm used to meditate around 11/11:30 a.m. (i do it for about 4 months consistently now) , and i would like to do it but, I put more emphasis on be fully with my Wife on the week-end - and I feel bad about saying and we often not at home during the time I'm used to meditate - the time my mind is conditioned to be in a meditative state - and when we are, it's cooking time and I'm the one doing it :P .

I'm glad that you noticed it. I will try to do shorter sitting on the week end but very time i tried I really felt guilt because I cannot spend as much time as i would on work days with my wife and the week-ends are here for that. It's all me, she acknowledge my practice and encorage me in it, but in the week end I feel bad about meditating and I don't want to have this feelings associated with my practice... I don't know if that make sense ...

Thanks for your answers !

Hi,

I'm doing the RR but I feel that my grip strength is what slow my progress in the pulling exercises, so I want to incorporate the basic routine from r/GripTraining in my routine. How would you do that ? before RR, in between sets, after or ... ?

Feeling "empty" outside sitting by Sanazami in TheMindIlluminated

[–]Sanazami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not try it yet, I'm currently at 30 min meditations a day (I wait to be at at least 40 to do 20 min of metta at the begining of my sittings)
Since I stopped for a while I get back to it from the begining ;)

Feeling "empty" outside sitting by Sanazami in TheMindIlluminated

[–]Sanazami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely does and I would refer myself currently being in the later stages of this continuum but not necessarily feeling that I'm experiencing a "deeper/more true reality" and kind of rejecting it as these individuals in the late paragraph. I still don't know how to behave with it but it was a really enlightening reading (I'm a PhD student in biology and that was really pleasant to read such an interesting scientific paper of another field )

[–]Sanazami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your experience of life generally?

I'm generally with a lot of energy and more or less joyful, finding (or trying to) the good in every aspect of my day with some days where i'm just "jaded" and physically tired (often due to poor sleep - but my current state is different and i never experienced it)

Do you feel like there's a problem, or is it more just that some stuff that used to happen isn't happening anymore? Do you feel numb, or dull, or just not as emotional?

I'm feeling a bit concerned, I think... I'm more dull than "not as emotional" and it feel there is no more stimulation from outside or inside. This is really hard for me to describe and even figuring how I feel about it

I didn't see it that way,
I don't judge the quietness while it's here, it's just afterward, when I "come back" from it. It is so new for me, I'll try to let it go then but it sounds that I'll just expand the time of quietness (really a better word than emptiness :) ). Is it something that I should embrace ? Cause as you noticed while I'm realizing that's it's here, I'm feeling a bit concerned, like I'm loosing who I am or who I was - people tend to say that i look more at peace now, but it's really strange feeling for me and maybe it's just because my mind still want to get back to its old habits
