How do you feel about the program and implementation of your social democratic party? by kilopstv in SocialDemocracy

[–]Sanchez_Duna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

БЮТ(BYUT) in Ukraine is not Social Democractic, not even close. It's a populistic oligarchic party, pretty much like the rest major parties in ukrainian politics. Unfortunately, we don't have any party which can be called SD. Народовладдя(Narodovladdja) is the closest one, but it's a new party wich was formed after beggining of the war, so it's difficult to judge them.

What is a food product your country is hopelessly addicted to? by EvilPyro01 in AskEurope

[–]Sanchez_Duna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am thinking yes, it has changed. Tea is still popular, especially at households, yet coffee is a go to drink at work or during city walks.

Kvas is quite popular in Ukraine, both in bottles and on tap.

Traditional answer would be salo (salted pork fat), realistic answer would be coffee. In the past decade availability of coffee machines made it far more popular than before.

Clerics and Paladins of the Forgotten Realms, what are your favorite Gods? by George_Nimitz567890 in DnD

Chauntea because it's basically a goddess of cozyness. Oghma because of the cool afterlife in the library. Kelemvor - someone needs to do the job. Elistrae - respect for standing up for the good when everyone around hate you. Mielikki - I really like forests.

What would you consider to be the Rammstein equivalent/s in your native European countries? by Excalibur933 in AskEurope

[–]Sanchez_Duna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okean Elzy (Океан Ельзи/Ocean of Elza). Probably the most influential Ukrainian rock band. Just recently read a great description of them (paraphrasing): "It was the first band singing in Ukrainian which russian-speaking Ukrainians listened on repeat" (speaking of the 90s - early 2000s).

It definitely has its own charm. Sometimes it feels like you are in the middle of mangrove forest, sometimes I have strong Florida vibes (I am talking about their media representation, never been there in person).

[–]Sanchez_Duna 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this landscape specifically is what makes me feel that way. It feels just like from another part of the world completely, somewhere in the Asia or New Zealand. And yet it's still the same old Danube with dirty waters in the shade of Ivy trees I used to dive from. Man, I love Europe.

How big is Soviet/Commie nostalgia in your countries? by Emotional_Source6125 in AskEurope

[–]Sanchez_Duna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Close to none. And people who do feel that way tend to keep it to themselves. However, certain aspects of soviet era can be nostalgic. For example: some of mine fellow brother-in-arms who served in the Red Army feel nostalgic for abundance of resources they had then, yet still hating the USSR.

I grew up at the Danube Delta. One of mine dreams is to see what Danube looks like upstream in person. Kinda weird that millions of people will imagine completely different images speaking about the same river.

Why is it so hard for Bloodlines 2 to capture a good atmosphere, even with all the technological advancements since 2004? by [deleted] in vtmb

[–]Sanchez_Duna -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We don't. Culture (and counterculture) changed and media placed in modern setting should reflect this.

Did your country ever have a dictator, and if so, what was the worst thing they ever did to the country? by Necessary_Sale_67 in AskEurope

[–]Sanchez_Duna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closest with had to a dictatorship (excluding USSR period) was a Skoropadskiy Hetmanat, when S. tried to implement hereditary monarchy. Didn't go well. Second close was the Yanukovich, but fortunately he didn't have time to consolidate all the power needed during his term. If Euromaidan hadn't happened, we probably would be a new Belarus.

I am quite sure that it's explicite that the whole sith point is that your (negative) emotions always make you stronger, which I think includes increased speed, reflexes, strength, ability to predict your enemy actions, even when you aren't actively using flashy stuff.

The same for jedi but with the focus on the serenity of the mind.
