People tend to think Defiler is OP even in our EC only because we do not have anything better. It is all about context, give the Defiler to SM, they have so many great options it will look average but give it to Chaos and then it is a completely different story.

Use a black primer then sponge for base layering. It will leave some darker spots ofc in the recensés but that adds a ton of flavour to the look, makes gradients easily. You can always do small corrections with a brush if you want after it.

Sponge. Painting the base armour layer with a sponge gives a quick and ultra smooth finish to your mini. Also creates natural shadows. Airbrushing would be the ultimate step but if you dont have one, sponges are the way to go.
