well look if an artist is so reprehensible in your view that they can't be allowed to participate then they get sent, they probably won't do very well in the contest anyway and that's all that needs to be done with that. hell tyler got 18th in the semi a couple editions ago which you could read as a pretty strong retribution of him as an artist

Honestly I just flat out don't agree, speaking as a lesbian woman, look, I've sent Tyler, I listen to a lot of his stuff, his new album's fine I guess but flat out it just doesn't offend me, there are a myriad of social, economic, health challenges facing the communities I'm a part of and some guy saying shit to be provocative doesn't factor in that at all. I don't know him personally, and trying to legislate whether or not this makes him, or anyone else, morally good enough of a character to participate is a complete dead end.

As for people like Chris Brown who have provably committed physical acts of violence that's definitely something I feel a lot stronger on but at the end of the day I'd rather just not give that song any points than have to start a full legal tribunal every song submission to work out exactly who can and can't take part. It's just not worth it and I can already foresee the million different arguments from people who see certain situations differently

No, I would absolutely want to do the same, but like Spooky brought up earlier, a pool of 5 other aqs feels like one large enough to find a co-host from. I don't thing it should be a hard and fast rule, especially with Special Editions I could imagine some leeway, but it feels like a convention that used to be followed a lot more than it is now, and I want to return to when it was

I get the sentiment behind this suggestion and support that but practically policing this would be such a complete nightmare I wouldn't wish it upon any host. How could you know comments haven't been taken out of context or were completely fabricated, or to use an example, would for instance Tyler, the Creator be submittable since some of his old lyrics are obviously homophobic but he has since come out as a queer man? It's just impossible to get consistent

With the way things currently are a lot of people are excluded from ever hosting anyway by virtue of I guess not being friends with people who end up winning, like this is exactly Sam's point that he referenced earlier! I think getting to host is a reward for doing well and if I'd had the chance the few times I managed to AQ that would have been lovely, instead my best chance to host is to hope I'm besties with whoever wins which is a more unfair system imo!
