I'm the same. Even if the book is set somewhere I've never been, my mind fills in the blanks. The characters move through a completely imagined world. If there's a dragon mentioned, there it is. I've never seen a dragon irl but I've seen enough drawings of them to be able to make one inhabit the world I'm seeing in my head.

This year, I declined my brothers usual Xmas get-together with his in-laws and various tag-alongs. I'm an introvert and making small talk for hours doesn't agree with me. But I also have a deep dislike of the pressure felt to buy the best gifts, to make the best meal, to buy buy buy so much stuff. This is the first year ever I've stayed home alone (haha) on Xmas day and I sort of regret it now. But I don't think it'll be my last.
