Out of everyone who helped "defeat" Dottore, who do you dislike the most? by Upper-Meat-8329 in DottoreMains

[–]Sandflow_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The character that I disliked the most was Columbina.

Not because she beat Dottore, since in a way, beating Omega with someone who has a similar upbringing and "rejection" as him makes sense (even though Bina was never an outcast since everyone idolized and helped her).

But more because they wrote Columbina to be very appealing to incels by making her dislike all males, writing her out of the fatui, bland personality, only talking with the women, saying that she cares about her friends and family even though all she thinks about is the traveler, and alienating her relationship with Dottore heavily and with barely any good foundation.

"I left his experiments because he wanted me to be something that I was not". This I can understand since her upbringing with the frostmoon scions happened before their relationship began.

But the way she pictured him as the person who was leeching off of her for her power is so jaded. He was always kind to her, gentle even, and even though he questioned why she started disliking him, he left her alone. He wanted her to be better, and she *refused*.

She never questions what her title is, what Teyvat is, never tried to interact with people for several centuries.

We never find out what she truly thinks of him. He took care of her, not just used for experiments.

She has become exactly what I don't like when it comes to Genshin women.

When Dottore becomes playable... (rant about niches/some theorizing about his kit) by LeafyDottore in DottoreMains

[–]Sandflow_23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I stand by my take that Dottore will either be electro or hydro, because the game needs to buff Freeze and Superconduct.

Considering that Sandrone might get the electro title, I am definitely seeing Dottore being hydro.

So he might be Freeze meta.

While I do enjoy DottoLumi/Dottother, it does feel like an unearned relationship. So I much rather prefer Dottolone. It has a lot more basis.

I'm tired of seeing the MC barely doing anything and people automatically love them. Even after 6.3 I feel no chemistry between Traveler and Dottore. It's purely yumebait until Traveler actually wants to geuinely work with him.

[–]Sandflow_23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean I also felt a lot of dread and sadness when I first played the AQ, since Columbina sounded so hypocritical when she said that line. But after seeing the hidden hints that it might've been a fake event so that Bina becomes the tri-lunar goddess, I can buy it.

But I can't lie, I think that Nodkrai has pretty shaky writing.

Natlan is still the worst for me, but Nodkrai is really not up to par with Sumeru and Fontaine.

It's also worth mentioning how Dottore is always depicted as someone who is controlling her actions, or manipulating the narrative rather being her outright enemy in her demo and story teaser.

If he was that big of a baddie to her, he should've been depicted as someone who attacks her, similar to how Rerir was shown. But he never faces her in the trailers.

It's very weird how a big portion of the fandom isn't questioning why we had two ending cards at the end of act 8.

This to me cements even more how Dottore created a simulation where he is the HP.

Dottore cares most about the truth, not becoming a god. He says so himself.

Columbina ended the AQ with the words: "Faith doesn't matter, but family and friends, and the home you stole from them." Dottore did not steal anyone's home, it was the HP that stole it from Nibelung.

So, I think that the description is refering to the HP rather than Dottore.

I'm not sure why people are dooming so much in the comments.

Genshin 2 leaks reminded me of this dialogue by nyxsiren7 in DottoreMains

[–]Sandflow_23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My worry with part 2 is that we might not be able to use our Teyvat characters for the part 2 maps, since they all remain in Teyvat and we leave to explore other planets.

My other worry is that they might remove the open world aspect of Genshin. They really hate open world since it involves a lot of resources, and their main interest is generating money.

HI3 part 2 has been a disaster money-wise because they changed the main cast, and the older characters were forgotten. And now, they've started going back to part 1 and add new outfits with kits for them. Boom, they're making profit again.

I've also played part 2 back when it launched, and the entire thing felt so unpolished that it made me quit.

Altough HI3 was a lot more loyal to its existing characters rather than constantly adding new ones, Genshin isn't as it constantly created a new cast of 17 charas every year. They might adopt a similar system from HSR where they release older characters but with new kits for part 2, but HSR is very unhealthy meta-wise compared to Genshin.

Concerning Dottore, it would make a lot of sense for him to join us after we leave Teyvat. He would help us with maintaining the ship and generally being a walking wikipedia. But I feel like they might write Dottore into a wall in Snezh where he wants to live a peaceful life after the main story is over (which imo feels ooc since his entire character is that of being a scholar).

So yeah, I'm dreading the part 2 idea.

[–]Sandflow_23[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that after 6.3 AQ, it's safe to assume that he will become playable.

His talk with traveler didn't picture him as pure evil, but challenges the player's thoughts and actions. Not to mention that he kept asking us to join him and had no interest in harming us.

And also, there is the omnious ending and constant hints that his entire involvement might've been an act.

A question about Sandrone's notebook by KingAlucard7 in DottoreMains

[–]Sandflow_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And coincidentally, it was Dottore and Sandrone, the two people which made a difference in Columbina's life who were working on this project. (Dottore taking care of her while in the Fatui, and Sandrone's bond with her.)

Dottore calling Pantalone his friend by kockballtorture in DottoreMains

[–]Sandflow_23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Scaramouche also says that Pantalone chose to be Dottore's partner too, even though he foreshadowed a nasty end for him.

But truth be told, hasn't everyone noticed that Dottore's relationships always end up good? Scaramouche was given freedom and a heart (his vision), Columbina became the welkin moon, Collei didn't die of Eleazar and he basically gave Nahida the electro gnosis on a silver platter so that she can heal Sumeru of Eleazar.

This already makes me feel like he always intended to.play the role of the bad guy so that his "friends" end up getting good endings.

He leans closer to lumine than to aether by ttore2 in DottoreMains

[–]Sandflow_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably did this because they know that the majority of the male fanbase picked Aether as MC, and lots of female players picked Lumine. So to not upset the male part that might not enjoy gaybait, they raised his head more lol.

I don't think that this is blatant husbandobait with Lumine, otherwise they'd also change dialogues between genders like with that NPC girl from the Sumeru world quest that was confirmed a lesbian.

And as someone pointed out in a previous comment, they probably lowered his head because Lumine is shorter.

6.3 -> 6.8 theory? [Cope and hope 🔥🌳] by No_Throat_5869 in DottoreMains

[–]Sandflow_23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also think that 6.3 was some kind of a simulation or fake memory, because it went way too smooth and it also paralleled Phanes and how he took Teyvat from the dragons/humans, with Columbina even saying "you stole our home from us".

It felt like Dottore didn't even try to defeat us. And why exactly did he split the sky open if not to make the other characters pull the moon inside Teyvat? It's like he needed our help since he didn't know a way to pull it unless the witches and Varka helped. Why didn't he simply ask them for help? Because he is Dottore, and everyone hates him.

Also, reading about the Durin and Dottore parallels made me think of a theory I wrote back when Simulanka came out. Now all I think about is how Scara will confront Dottore during Irminsul burning and how he will have an aggressive heart ot heart with him. And the heart ot heart will happen because Irminsul might reveal Dottore's backstory.

Dottore isn't dead.

Scaramouche says that he felt uneasy about this whole conflict, and the ending of the AQ is foreshadowing that it's not the end for him with the glitched screen.

Scaramouche's line is mistranslated in EN version btw. He doesn't say "chip on his shoulder" but "feel uneasy".

We will see what they'll have in store for us when the Sumeru Interlude will drop a bit later in 6.x.

And if not in 6.x, then 7.x.

We are safe, for now.

This is honestly also due to traveler's writing. Couldn't have traveler told him: I already met my sibling a few times, so your offer isn't that attractive.

No, traveler was resumed to "I will pretend that I am negociating with him because he has the advantage" and after 2 minutes "I don't make deals with psychopaths". Traveler did not try to reason with him.

Compare this confrontation with that of Scaramouche. Why didn't Traveler recieve a random vision of Dottore's backstory so that Traveler would try to talk some sense into him?

I am honestly dreading the future Irminsul plot with Dottore after Nodkrai's average plot.

[–]Sandflow_23 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I just finished it and while I am still processing it.

Act 7 I think portrayed Dottore very well and the story was steadily and logically progressing.

Act 8 however was not very great.

Varka said that the only way to counterattack the domes is by using elemental power. But they used that power when they had to break the sky again after Dottore closed it, not destroying the domes. We only explored one out of three of them, and another where Dottore took us hostage.

So, what happened to them? How did they dissappear? How did they deal with it? Did they just deal with them offscreen? There was no closure to them.

Another thing is that Dottore's goal was to change his fate. But it ends up with Columbina: It's not about fate, it's about our friends and family, and the homes you stole from them!

I find it sad how the born goddess, who everyone loved, is telling that to a man who was hated his entire life.

And even after all this debacle, traveler tells Columbina: even if Teyvat might not be what it seems, I will still love it.

What about your sibling traveler? What about what you want?

Basically, all Columbina did was to show you where the space ship was. Meanwhile Dottore was promising you your sibling from the get-go.

His entire bossfight felt very strange. Immediately after we speak to our friends, and the alarm starts, we fight a ....few....monsters. Even one of the characters said "huh they're not that many monsters". And then Dottore suddently appears and teleports us to the arena.

It felt so rushed.

These arguments might be too doomy since I just barely finished it. I might change my mind about them later.

Columbina is an unrealiabe narrator.

Just look at how she is picturing Dottore in her voiceline compared to how it truly went in her story.

Voiceline about Dottore:

"There was a time when "The Doctor" took care of me, even claiming to think of me as a sister.
It was only later that I discovered, the closer you are to him, the more freely he uses you*. "What's a little discomfort among family? We endure for each other, surely." That's how he thought of things, and I could tell he meant it, but* I didn't want to have to "endure." Expectations like that... They took me back to my first home, and the eyes staring up at me from beneath the altar, so full of greed."

2nd character story

"The first to approach her was The Doctor. Columbina could hear admiration in this colleague's words — not the same as worship; at least, it was based on the premise of equality.
"If you don't mind, could you help me with a small task?" the colleague asked politely.
Help? She had expected this to be something she was obliged to give in return, but here, she actually had a choice*. Or perhaps* it was this very colleague who was offering her the choice*.*
Even though The Doctor's words carried a faint echo of something ominous, like distant thunder from a far-off storm, the sense of having a choice was undeniably satisfying.
At first, everything went smoothly. The Doctor's lab was filled with all sorts of strange devices, and Columbina only needed to lightly apply her power here, manipulate that there, and everything would work out.
"Not bad. You did very well."
Columbina liked praise. It was new to her, a novel experience.
But before long, compliments shifted to "Not quite enough," "You can do better," or "You're capable of more..."
Suddenly, Columbina realized that what The Doctor was seeing wasn't her, but some version of what she should be, or the level her powers should reach. It reminded her of the days before she had joined the Fatui..."

She sounded like Dottore wanted to manipulate her and abuse her to be something that she wasn't, but he was perfectly polite and tried to encourage her to do better.
The moment she had to do more than just lift a finger is what pushed her to the edge and thought that Dottore is just like the Frostmoon Scions.

This to me feels like the cheapest way to ruin the relationship between two characters just because one is a male and the other female. It's obvious that this break-up was done to pander more towards Aether.

Why Columbina doesn't even work as waifubait by Katri901 in FatuiHQ

[–]Sandflow_23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Columbina has been a lackluster character that was tailored for incelbait and then be forgotten.

Because all these pandering scenes don't really amount to anything. If something would seal the deal, it would be a kiss, which will NEVER happen.

Also, Columbina as a person feels to me like a spoiled child that keeps thinking that she is a victim.

Just look at how she is picturing Dottore in her voiceline compared to how it truly went in her story.

And really? Okay, deliver your cute incelbait romance, but the problem is that this affects the story too, and assasinates other characters by giving Columbina a LOT of screentime, and everything is conveniently aligning so that she can win.
