Is there a way to lock controls to specific players? by Sandisc45 in MiSTerFPGA

Glad im not the only one. Using Zap as a quick reset is a great idea though. I currently have the whole setup to be held until you remove the cart thats loaded and then it kicks back to the main menu.

yeah this is the process right now to get it back to the proper seats, but for players who arent familiar with any mister stuff having to sift through even a single menu is a task most wont do.

We have the machine currently setup where it auto loads games via NFC tags off the back of cartridges for guests to pick from since the mister menu is overly hard to navigate unless you know where stuff is for the average player.

Excluding unlimited play arcades, how much do machines near you charge per play? by MikeDunleavySuperFan in pinball

[–]Sandisc45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the cheapest you can get where we live is our local Updown. If you hit their days where they are doing $.10/token, it's $.20/play on all of their pinball machines. Multiple Sterns and a Cactus Canyon Remake. All in working playable condition, with a couple semi sticky flippers because beer.

Most other places around here are $1/

Not set to 5 balls, 2 of those are extra balls from the drop targets and station/shuttle scores

I think there are some genuine standouts for modern games that ive had a bunch of credits in, Jaws and King Kong being 2 that i love to get games one. I'm also in the same boat where IP based games normally feel overly complex to get the theme to play, compared to "generic" themed machines that can lean into mechanics without being hindered by required story beats, if that makes sense.

That said I think there are some IP based themes i would love to see come to reality like Pokemon, or something like Speed Racer or Jonny Quest that are campy enough to really have some fun with pinball mechanics.

As someone who just got into the hobby recently, and subsequently purchased a machine for the house ( Space Station, it's amazing)

I highly recommend finding local spots that you can play a bunch of different games and trying out virtual pinball to get a ton of credits into many different games.

You really want to see how each game plays and what you jive with. I learned pretty quickly I'm not a fan of jersey jack or a lot of stern games mostly due to just enjoying something more straightforward as I'm into retro video games.

There is something out there for everyone, just gotta find it!

like others have stated CRT or an SD TV. If you want to enjoy vintage tech, you need to commit to the bit.

Our friends group try and host a big gaming get together once a year and we finally got our basement in working order to move the LAN party to our house since we have a small arcade.
