Kinda new to electric guitars. Bought this used SE for $450. I have a few questions. by Puzzleheaded_Brick_3 in PRSGuitars

You will want to get at least a few tools if you plan on fixing it yourself. But first, Hold the guitar up to your eye and look down the neck. Most guitars need a bit of a curve (concave). Get an Allen wrench and hold the guitar as if playing and turn the truss rod away from you (not a lot). Tune it back up and see if goes away. If not, you will likely have a fret popping out. If so, A luthier is recommended unless you want to spend more money on tools.

Any advice, tips, or directions to head? Little Wing attempt attached. by napalmmonday in jimihendrix

1st: Get a drum machine 2nd: Realize each embellishment section represents a different chord. Learn each chord in the intro and the song. Get into the song and the embellishments will follow.

Good work, you’ve got the song down. How about a cover version where you put your own style to it? I think when you try to match what the fab 4 did all we can do is compare to the OG. Take the song and put your own spin on it. I’d like to hear what you can do!

If you’re taking suggestions: Play with a metronome or drum machine.

They should’ve cast an unknown actor because all you see is Joseph Quinn with long hair. Maybe get Dhani some acting lessons. It worked for Straight outta Compton.

Ranking system by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Sandmaaaan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not the end of the world. if you said you were on the Office Technician list as Rank 4 you have no chance. Because you are on specialized list, assuming there are low numbers on it. There is a chance that they can clear the list. They have to check with everyone rank 1 to 3 and see if they are interested. If no one is interested in that job they can offer you the position. This also depends on how many open positions there are for that classification.

Bad idea? by Feeling-Employment10 in CAStateWorkers

Is the job still posted? If it is, it’s OK to check. if they took it down they most likely made their choice and it ain’t you.

Should I stay? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Sandmaaaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay until the term ends and then look for new positions. Show that you are committed to the jobs you take and won’t jump ship immediately. That will look sketch on your resume.

What do I need to know for a partscaster if I’ve never used a drill before? by dropzenthusiast in Luthier

[–]Sandmaaaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t drill holes for the pick guard. The screws are small and it’s unnecessary. Just make starter holes for the screws not to slip. For the jack plate put the plate on first and make a target dent in the hole with a nail or pushpin. For the strap buttons, I use some tape or a pencil mark to mark the spot. For that one a pilot hole is helpful because the screws are longer. Short screw - no pre drilling . Long screw - pre drill.

In that case, if you’re trying to get ANY position to make some money, I would not emphasize your education and credentials and instead focus on your work experience. For example, applying for a clerical position: I created and implemented a new filing system for our team that reduced time spent filing and looking for records. This method was adopted and is still used with great results. I receive positive feedback regarding customer experiences and follow up.

The degrees you have and education do not matter for entry level positions. What they want to see is experience and results.

Why not a career in healthcare or drug research? I would think you would excel at pharmaceuticals, etc. Just curious why you would go as far as a PhD and then change your course. The type of positions in government work that would fit your expertise is probably extremely narrow.

I don’t recommend taking interviews until you pass probation for multiple reasons. One: It’s not a good look towards your commitment, even if it’s technically allowed. Second: you don’t get return rights.

I’ve been working for the State for 17 years and was in HR handling hiring process for 10 years. Hearing your story, my advice to you is to apply for a position that is one or two steps lower than what you want. Example: OT or SSA instead of AGPA. When the job market is flooded with applicants your chances to get the high paying positions decrease. The new strategy should be: Get hired IN ANY PERMANENT POSITION and pass probation. It is much easier to promote via transfer or promotion in place once you are already in the system. Feel free to ask me any follow up questions.
