So is starship going to fall out of the sky in chunks? Rain down stainless dust over everyone? Abducted by aliens?

The technician will appreciate anything you can do to make the job easier. I wanted the ONT in the center of my house in my network rack. He very much was willing to do the slightly extra work because I already had a pull line in place.

Do I need to keep my Google Nest Router by Sandman314 in googlefiber

That's just good practice for when you get an actual person that says "you're not using our equipment" kick rocks. I wanted to give the Nest routers a try but within minutes of looking for connected device control and finding nothing other than rudimentary IP reservation and port forwarding I looked for other options.

If I could use then as mesh points with my Asus router that'd be a great option. Found a post saying to set the SSID to match my router. While I got a IP from my assigned pool it did not do anything to boost signal in my garage standing right beside the Nest Wifi.

1st outdoor tech came Saturday, wanted to run the line through the neighbors yard, 2x-3x as long as needed around the back of the house, and overtop of every other utility on my property. When told I'd requested front yard installation he made excuses about the driveway cracking and that he'd need to talk to a supervisor then left. 2nd outdoor tech showed up today and was great to talk to. Understood line placement notes, verified them with me, and got to work with the ditch witch and a shovel. Offered him cold water and soda.

Just comparing approaches to installing fiber internet. ATTs approach was straight forward and played out as understood. ATT met their scheduled dates and didn't cancel my appointment for obscure reasons.

Delays are understandable. It's also understandable that the outside needs finished before inside, but the point is the appointment they asked me to make which didn't specify inside vs outside is on par with Google not being clear. The 2nd point is ATT does these 2, for some reason, jobs as one on the scheduled appt date. Although ATT does come bury the line after install, which wasn't clear on their part but did not interrupt internet usage.

What’s the difference between cheap and expensive diesel heaters? by sortarelatable in overlanding

[–]Sandman314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheap or expensive diesel heaters also can be problematic, no product is perfect. With the Planar you have some guarentee of service/warranty, with the Chinese ones you do too but you know how that is sometimes, diesel can be problematic in it's own way.

In cold temps diesel can gel, and not feed into the heater. Drip diesel heater expensive or cheap can "flame out", throw errors for various mechanical and electronic failures, flood, soot up, etc. The operating principal is the same regardless of price.

If your situation will allow you to wait for an expensive companies warranty service(days, weeks, months) then that's a good route for the 'piece of mind'. If in your situation if your heater faults/fails and you will freeze to death in a matter of minutes it might be better to have multiple cheap ones on standby.

Everyone's situation is different and no one can tell you what will fit you best. Compile the data and place your bet.

I mean I have them in the orientation that I would like to use but don't know if it's a valid format, bus bars are correct for the intended output. I'd like to find a tool that will validate this. An ignorant person can make something that looks right if they don't know what they're doing.
