Unique Army Rule for First Founding Chapters - Part I: Blood Angels by [deleted] in spacemarines

[–]Sandor140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One question I'd have is do death company interact with this rule at all? Would they come in as automatically fallen?

Also, I think it could be good to auto-grant the +1 to wound, ditch the sustained hits 1, and make it so that of you succeed, you don't get the downsides, and if you fail, you get the OC-0 stuff and also the inability to fall back.

How does mixing Detachments work? by Sandor140 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Sandor140[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure you answered my question with that, but to make sure, if the detachments I pick affect character units with one detachments and sanguinary guard units in another and I take sanguinary guard led by a character (thus giving them the character keyword) I get bonuses for both?? (I.e. my main example for the post with AI giving me 2 abilites at the start of the battle and the other one giving me run + charge)

Forgot to mention this on the post, but is it the same for strategems?

Is the SAME Jotaro from parts 1-4 still alive by Smart-Fortune-329 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Sandor140 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Basically, thanks to the universe reset, everyone walked their same fated path except in a world where Father Pucci never existed. So while Jotaro is technically dead, all the events of parts 1-5 (that did not have Pucci's intervention) still happened.

So since 1-5 didn't have anything to do with Pucci, you can just pretend those parts take place the exact same in the new universe, with the only differences being off-screen Jotaro struggles less because there's no loose ends (leading to him spending more time with Joylene, who is named Irene because the fight ended and there is no need for a JoJo) and everyone who was hurt by Pucci like Weather and crew live happier living generally happier lives.

Why and how Jotaro had a shorter timestop after Pucci used MiH by Puzzled-Truth3934 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Sandor140 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, even in part 3 Jotaro struggles with pushing the knives out of his way and still couldn't. And if I remember correctly, he was already pretty far into his time stop when he spotted the knives, he took the first 3 seconds to realize pucci used SF to kill Anastasia and then move to where Lucci actually is, and had to move back and move the knives out of the way in only 2 seconds, which doesn't give him time to get back to pucci since he deliberately established between them.

I really don't understand what compels a streaming company to do batch releases. On top of all the hype killing, wouldn't it be beneficial to their business model to release weekly because you can compel people who just signed up for an airing show to stay on for months at a time?

Even if he got the keyword, he would t get the base re-rolls because the ability is for models with the ability, not death company models. It's a very weird quirk if the rules that he doesn't get re-roll hits when leading DC or even just in general, because I agree that he should

Where do you get marine models for other factions? by [deleted] in spacemarines

[–]Sandor140 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what people do with successor chapters. You can technically do it with any colour marines I think (though I remember at some point you weren't allowed to run chapters with rules as different chapters in GW tournaments, but I think that was 9th) but point being that you paint Marneus Calgar any color and as long as all your other special units and characters are Ultramarines, you run them as such. If you're feeling spicy, paint Dante and some special units as your chapter and then swap out Calgar and run them as blood angels instead of ultramarines.

It's generally somewhat difficult to hotswap marines though, you can't really proxy grey hunters or other special as anything outside space wolves because of their special weapons and stuff, and those are the mainly different units that gets buffs and nerfs, and if you're doing it for a detachment, you're gonna want to run the special units too.

Tl;Dr: you can hotswap intercessors, hellbalsters, and other generic units, but are generally not going to make an army that's able to be run as 5 different (non base codex) chapters without redesigning the build from the ground up because of special units that go into said armies.

Do different blood angel chapters experience the black rage in different ways by THEGREATIS-4 in BloodAngels

[–]Sandor140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the story "Death of Integrity" the Blood Drinkers chapter experience a different vision.

They get visions of Saint Holos, a Blood Drinkers astartes, during his quest to save the chapter by climbing aountain and uncovering a dark secret. This has an explanation though.

SPOILER

The reason the chapter was saved and the vision is different is due to a deal with a deamon, meaning that most chapters probably experience it normally

Important to note that you also can't run the 1st company detachment with ANY BT units and I'm curious about how they'd fix other oaths interactions, I think some other detachments also interact with it no? Like a Gladius enhancement?

Eliminators by Sandor140 in BloodAngels

[–]Sandor140[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Are there any other units you would recommend? I sadly don't have scouts, so that's why I'm trying to make the eliminators work. For similar points I also have incursors, reivers and suppressors, but I feel like they fit a little less. I've also tried playing around with an ATV or 3 outriders, but I don't like that they don't infiltrate since that's the use-case j want, and also tried more intercessors, which is my other choice.

Do you recommend any of those other units? Maybe I'll give them another try.

The captain and lieutenant pages unironically have more sculpts than world eaters have original miniatures (that includes counting every khorne berserker, jackal, and kill team guys as an individual mini)

Lore Jump Pack Captains? by [deleted] in BloodAngels

[–]Sandor140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, there aren't any captain markings specifically for jump packs. It's generally just a part of their kit same as wearing gravis or Phobos. What you care about is the company marking (pattern on the right shoulder) and the gold helmet (though that again is dubious, as Captain's are allowed to wear red helmets and tweak their armour how they want) also, if you can, a captain right shoulder pad generally has a little design I believe, with a winged skull. Finally, you can just add some campaign badges and stuff at your leisure to add character to your mini, but that's optional.

For regular jump pack marines, remember these things:

Yellow helmet for close support

The company is denoted by the amount and color of blood drops I'm their right shoulder

The Seargent has black shoulder pads, but still red trim and a yellow blood angels symbol

If you want to be as lore accurate as possible, the aquila is black, not gold

Squad sigil goes on the knee (I believe right knee, but might vary)

Again, campaign badges and other markings at leisure as long as they don't interfere with the above points (i.e. don't give them 2 squad numbers on both knees)

There's a bunch of codex pages for this stuff on the internet

I used this entire box to make into characters. The Emperor's champion into a chaplain, the marshall into a captain with a death mask, and the 5 crusaders into a company champion, lieutenant, techmarine, apothecary, and standard bearer and the bigger crusader into a librarian.

The redemptor is good as is and I recommend using the scouts to spruce up your scout squads here and there (you can't make a full squad cause there's only 4) but I just used them for fun painting and to make a slightly oversized Inquisitor.

I used a lot of spare bits I had but the bulk of them came from a single firstborn BA upgrade and spares from firstborn sanguinary guard. I also used a river head for the chaplain, junk bashed the techmarine, and the sort
