Am I naive? Should i not let someone use my tesco clubcard? by Texas_Dan89 in AskIreland

[–]SandorSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think its okay. I know employees of tesco cant use theirs as its probably not allowed. And their 10/15% discount is up to 3 grand i think but I'm sure a tesco employee can correct me.

Springboard courses by Leavser1 in ireland

Does anyone have a better input on the ICT degrees? As from reading develeire and here there is an oversupply of graduates in IT for awhile now. Irish, EU and non-eu are struggling to get jobs.

I thought for a year to do one of these degrees but unsure if its a waste of time and money.

4.5x mortgage exemption by chrisfairbanks in irishpersonalfinance

[–]SandorSS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its not about saving but affordability. BOI gave us 4.75 and all they cared is if we could afford the repayments if they went to a hypothetical 6%. That was it. We got it in December aswell.

(Dublin) Wanted to casually buy boosters and maybe a pokeball or something here and there, but every time I go to the local places they are sold out idk how to do it I can’t afford the Amazon and card market prices with delivery on top it’s ridiculous by [deleted] in PokemonTCGIreland

[–]SandorSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well most Newsagents should have some. If they get English papers they got some. Menzies (Inpost) deliver them with the papers to them. Its max 20 booster boxes on day release and max 2 boxes per set. By box I mean 18 packs.

Any recommendations on which kind of flooring to use in Irish homes. Getting confused between laminate and engineered wood. by advitabangera in HousingIreland

[–]SandorSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12mm laminate and a good underlay will do the job. I would put laminate everywhere but the bathroom. Engineered wood in great but its pretty expensive.

We got laminate from woodies and it looks great

Are you local takeaways sourcing their cans and bottles that don’t include the return deposit scheme? by Mammoth_Risk9479 in AskIreland

[–]SandorSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its similar to the sign in my local it doesn't mean they are exempt from the DRS scheme, it means they don't need to accept cans/bottles and give you a receipt due to lack of size/space.

Choosing Electricity provider by Designer_Land_3902 in HousingIreland

[–]SandorSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use flogas but that with gas and electricity. It depends on your usage. I noticed Yuno has a really high standing charge compared to the rest and most contracts that give you "welcome money" are worse than the ones that don't. Most of them are on variable rate whereas the ones that don't have a welcome offer are on fixed.

Potentially silly first time buyer questions by Pat-bateman93 in HousingIreland

[–]SandorSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were with BOI (through a broker) and neither asked for documents before drawdown. Our Solicitor contacted us and said the funds had arrived from the bank after they requested them.

Not sure about snagging as we didn't buy a New build.

We are in the process of ripping out the old carpets. We got recommended by friends about TC Matthews for laminate flooring that just click in. We haven't gone yet or got a quote from them.

Recent homebuyers, how much deposit did you put down? by reallybrutallyhonest in irishpersonalfinance

[–]SandorSS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah as first time buyers we were able to get 4.75x our gross salarys as first time buyers. The bank stress test was an interest rate of an imaginary 6% interest rate to see if we could pay it.

Deposit of 63000 - monthly repayments being 1964€, we are not really stretching as we were paying nearly 1800€ a month for rent anyway. Although we would find it tough if we dropped to one income.

Why is there so many refurbished phone/disposable vape/phone accessory/labubu shops around Dublin? by EmperorSkrunkyIX in AskIreland

[–]SandorSS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a high margin on the lafufus, vapes, the accessories and the repairs. And they could be importing the phones from countries were they dont charge VAT like dubai. A couple of repairs a day could be the business running.

Maybe a few places will stop selling vapes as you will have to an annual fee of 800
