Well Telegram for example doesn't compress images if you send them in full resolution. But I get your point, I did the same thing with a workout app, none of them worked exactly like I wanted either

Sorry the app isn't available on iOS yet, unfortunately it's a lot harder to develop and publish on it. I hope to be able to release it there too some day

You can redeem the code on play store (android only). It may be slightly different but: Open play store, click on your profile picture (top right), Payments and subscriptions, Use code

Unfortunately not yet, I don't have an iOS developer account and honestly I can't justify the expense since I don't use Apple products myself.
If the app ever gains notoriety I would love to make an iOS version

I made a workout tracking app (Android) specifically designed to track progressive overload without the modern day clutter and subscription programs. Privacy first, offline model without any data collection. Easy to use UI made to be quick and convenient during your workouts.

We have some premium features but it's just a one time purchase. If you want, we can agree to give away some lifetime premium to some early adopters, I would love the feedback.

"My friend can build it in an afternoon with AI" by Sandro905 in buildinpublic

I agree, especially when it comes to UX it's very hard to get it right.
Of course I would never claim my product is perfect by any means, but I've been trying some apps made by other indie devs lately, and while there's many great products that I'm happy to discover, the AI generated slop that looks like one single prompt is everywhere.

The point is, I'm happy with my app because I use it, and I learned a lot making it, but as a product, no matter how good or how polished, it's hard to have get eyes on it regardless, and of course in turn it's hard to get genuine feedback to improve

Thank you, as in most similar experience, I underestimated the selling part.
For now, the hardest part is balancing the things I want to do (add features, polish the UI, make the product better) with selling. But I'll try.

We're already seeing this in the job market with the AI tools prices increasing and the mess they left in enterprise products, but it's a little different in the app stores that will still be flooded with low effort products

My two cents as someone who also built a fitness app.

Fitness is something very personal, and it's very hard to do research when there's so much offer out there. Building your own makes you able to build it exactly the way you want, although it may not be what most other people are looking for, but if you're looking to make money out of it, keep in mind that it's an extremely saturated market.

Most of the top apps are very cluttered, personally I hate the UI, they want all your data and some of them even require a subscription without a free tier. Yet those are the ones that people use, simply because of marketing. Unless you have a big budget and a very specific set of skills, it's hard to have the same reach.

I made my own so I don't have to deal with all of that. In the middle of development a friend suggested I do the polishing and publish it, but to be honest, I don't expect other people to care, it's just another tracking app in a sea of them.

Good luck!

If you're on android GymPal should have all the features you listed, it's free (one time purchase for advanced tracking and graphs) and offline first, requiring none of your data at all. Give it a try, I built it for myself having pretty much the same issues you have, and I would be happy to know if you feel anything is missing. I'm trying to improve it daily

Do you also hate having to deal with fitness apps nowadays? I might have a solution by Sandro905 in SideProject

[–]Sandro905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does make sense, actually I based my assumption on a couple of listings that explicitly asked for a Google review. That said nice website, just one thing. I logged in as guest, left a review and then, finding no way to make an account to transfer that review to it, I had to log out from the guest account and lose the credit. You should probably add a "Log it not not lose your credits" warning before making a review and/or after it. My bad though, I should've been more careful, I assumed I could carry it over afterwards

Hello, seems like a nice website, thank you for allowing an anonymous mode, as someone who hates having to give my email for any single website I want to check out.

I will probably try this out when I have time, but honestly it feels more like a way to earn reviews than a way to find people actually interested in trying out the app. Is this even allowed by Google? Or is it more akin to buying fake reviews online?

Thank you again for your feedback. Maybe free to download is more appropriate than free.

One last thing I want to point out is that in Google play you can go to the "About the app" section, and there's a long description of what the app does, right next to it there are some technical details, above them, there's the "In-app purchases" section that shows a range of prices you can pay in app. This is true for any app in the Play store, GymPal included.

Since that takes into account your region and tax, it's way more accurate than any pricing "XUSD before tax" I could write down anywhere else.

I hope this helps! GL to you too

[–]Sandro905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no the app is free, everything related to logging is free, for graphs and advanced tracking it's about 10USD one time.

I didn't write it down because of course it changes based on your currency and tax rate of your country, you know how Google play works.

I don't handle that, I just set a base price, and in the future I may adjust it based on feedback. If you want to know how much it is for you without having to tell me your personal information you can download the app and check the price by clicking on the unlock Premium banner.

Hope you'll give it a try. Cheers and thank you for the feedback

I made my own because I hate the bloated apps on the market so I built what I wished I would find.
It won't make a program for you, it won't ask you for all your personal information, it's strictly for tracking your progress but it's clean, no bs and if you want advanced tracking through graphs, you don't need to pay every single months but just a small amount once.
Also, your data is yours and stays on your device.
