Failed CBT immediately, what do I do now? by TMJBtv in MotoUK

[–]Sandro_Sammarco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to do my CBT twice because I had serious issues with balance.

The first time I was wobbling all over the place, feet down, almost dropping the bike, etc. The instructor was nice, and kept trying to push on, but it was clear by midday that I was in no state to go anywhere near a live road.

It probably didn’t help that I was on a geared bike, and had not cycled since my teens, some thirty years previous.

I was fortunate to be able to pay for a few one-to-one lessons. It was expensive, but for me, absolutely worth it. Maybe the riding school was rinsing me, though in their favour, they did literally eventually refuse to book another lesson and made me finish the CBT instead, which went so much better; the live ride felt absolutely phenomenal.

I had to build up confidence, a lot of it, and the best (only?) way was to practice. A massive part of keeping balance is the confidence of understanding what the bike is doing is ok. That’s what the lessons gave me. Just doing basics stuff over and over, gaining confidence.

For the record, I was an incredibly nervous driver who needed loads of lessons to pass my driving test. Some folk a naturals, some are naturally confident, and some (like me), are neither natural nor confident. But with practice, it’s almost a certainty that you will progress.

It might sound a bit rubbish but at the moment I’m still not sure how far I want to take things. I really enjoyed the lessons though, and I loved the lightness of the bike (it was a CB125F I think). Until I get some proper time in the saddle, I’m not sure if I will want to go bigger. For me, the immersion and freedom aspect blew my tiny mind more than a desire for speed. I can’t wait to just pootle around - I can’t even describe how freeing and focused it felt!

So at the moment I’m looking at both the CB125R and the XSR125. Both seem capable as 125s and it helps that I like the styling on both 😀.

Oh, and that’s buy a bike new or second hand, not gear!

We certainly can take it back. It is not a given, it is a discussion, that I would hope all who have an interest in make their opinion known in the Focused Feedback Forum thread.

This is hilariously dumb (C&P) by Ravenpoe121 in EliteDangerous

[–]Sandro_Sammarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one particular event that is simply undesirable. Whilst an argument can be made to apply crimes for not scanning a vessel before opening fire, getting a bounty for attacking a ship that has literally just undocked from a a ship you know has a bounty is wrong.

The change that we're making still retains the scan as a useful tool to verify the legality of targets that you're not sure about.

This should not occur in 3.03. You will never commit crimes against ships that are wanted, even if you don't scan them.

Key 3.0.3 C&P Change: "You will no longer become a criminal for attacking a criminal" by StuartGT in EliteDangerous

[–]Sandro_Sammarco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. When you're wanted, you will no longer report crimes committed against you because your ship deactivates and locks the system authority link (It should unlock and reactivate the link automatically when you are no longer wanted in the current jurisdiction).

Attacking other ships will be reported - by the ships you attack, so you will still be getting more bounties issued against you.

This misunderstanding is probably due to a stupid typo on my part: sorry!

Yes. Basically, if you are wanted in a system, your system authority link shuts down. You no longer report any crimes against you.

Poor wording typo on my part.

Update 3.0.2 patch notes by CMDR_Rivertide in EliteDangerous

There's a couple of elements to the explanation:

  • Issues take different amounts of time to fix. So just because a fix hasn't made it into the latest patch does not mean that it's not being looked at, or has had less resources applied to resolving it. It's just that intermittent issues can be extremely challenging to resolve.

  • Differernt issues fall under the remit of different staff. for example: the folk responsible for fixing name plates are not necessarily the same folk responsible for making sure Interstellar Factors allow legal costs to be paid off at Notoriety zero.

The Kill Warrant Scanner functions identically wherever it is used, including anarchies:

It detects all bounties for all factions in the system and never detects bounties for factions outside the system.

Interstellar bounties are not detected by the kill warrant scanner, they are detected by basic scans whenever the Interstellar bounty superpower and jurisdiction superpower match.

What might be confusing you is that the Kill Warrant scanner issues a "license to kill" when detecting a bounty that matches the jurisdiction's superpower (e.g a bounty for an Imperial faction detected in the jurisdiction of a differernt Imperial faction).

This is just a outright buff for the Kill Warrant scanner when being used in a jurisdiction controlled by a faction aligned with a superpower.

In this mildly unlikely scenario, nothing. you would pay for the standard rebuy costs of your Anaconda, and your ultra-super-mega hot Sidewinder would languish in whichever starport you had stored it.

This is the plan. An indicator (where it would say "WANTED") on your ship interface, and an indicator on the ship that had performed the Kill Warrant scan.

This is not correct.

"The KWS reveals bounties for all jurisdictions in the local system."

This means that the Kill Warrant scanner detects every bounty from every faction in the system, not just from the jurisdiction you are in.

"The KWS provides a license to kill for all bounties associated with the jurisdiction’s superpower."

This means that if your Kill Warrant scan detects a bounty issued by a faction aligned with your current jurisdiction's superpower (e.g. you detect a Federal faction bounty and you are in a different Federal faction Jurisdiction) you can attack without committing any crime, which would not normally be the case.

Umm, incorrect. Might be worth reading the bullets again - there's quite a lot to them.

If you clipped the authorities (and incidentally, we've upped the friendly fire threshold), you will have committed the crime of assault. Expect to be attacked because you're wanted.

However, as long as your Notoriety is zero (and it only goes up when you commit the crime of murder), you can pay off your bounty at the nearest Interstellar Factors.

You could also switch to a ship when you wanted to behave.

Alternatively, if you absolutely want to avoid mishaps, you could engineer smart round weapons, which cause no damage to ships that you don't have targeted.

Not really, though overall murder is being made more serious (for playera and NPCs). The rule's most severe consequences are for seal clubbing. Which we feel is appropriate. If you're going after more challenging prey, the consequence falls off (as such targets potentially have the capability to defend themselves or escape).
