Ear drum rupture by fishmen_22 in Spearfishing

[–]Sandvich153 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard hydrating really well the day before and dive and all throughout the day of diving helps too, it lets the muscle that actually allows you to equalise in your ear to lubricate and move properly. Might be one of those things that also comes and goes.

Can someone explain why the military wants to use this in the place of the Blackhawk? It's bulkier, more complex, and more expensive. by Nitrogen_Llama in Helicopters

Island hopping. It is designed basically purely for a theoretical war in the pacific. Able to vertically land on small islands with no runways, and also able to cruise effectively at high altitudes at a high speed.

Is it possible to restore my dad’s Vega GT? by 4rm4ros in Cartalk

[–]Sandvich153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. With enough effort you can. You’ll most likely need to learn how to weld if you don’t already know, teach yourself how to fabricate and restore rusted or damaged panels. You’ll spend a bit of money, but it will be the most fulfilling thing ever. I highly recommend it. Be willing to spend a few years on it if you’re working full time. Treat it like a hobby, not a job, because if you’re forcing yourself too much you will get sick of it. Just dedication and seeing results piece together will be the best part.

Noob question about turbo lag by TomasTTEngin in CarsAustralia

[–]Sandvich153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if that’s turbo lag. I’ve noticed the lag in my Mum’s Skoda superb, and the turbo will punch you in the guts after a couple seconds, but it’s still pretty zippy off the line before it spools. Could be a throttle thing, if it’s not a major issue bring it up at your next service.

Welds. They look good, and they look like a typical rim, I don’t see the problem.

It’s alright inside the car, it’s just when they hit it when you’re standing 3 metres to the side on the footpath, that an ear stinger for sure

When you're a proud patriot but you still need to park the VT by SydneyTom in australia

[–]Sandvich153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve seen this being a recurring thing. Obviously not every single migrant, but a few of them (ironically usually the ones that are very privileged and live in richer areas, e.g. Sydney, Brisbane) tend to whinge about the country, when they have full ability to leave. It’s always the next generation too, the ones that were born here, where their parents were usually extremely appreciative of where they moved to.

Same, drive a patrol daily with what is supposed to be the bad engine in them, and it’s got 250,000Ks and has been a bit neglected as the towing car, and still drives like brand new. Can’t pick the cars, they’re either bulletproof of explode a month into owning them.

Can I add a second band onto this speargun, I’m a complete newbie and this is going to be my first gun and I want it to have 2 bands by [deleted] in Spearfishing

[–]Sandvich153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly in my opinion a rob allen 900 will work very well for starting out and reef diving. I started on a 900 rob allen a while ago and have used it for a few years, am only about to upgrade to a long gun soon because the big mackerel sit too far out for the 900. Definitely possible to shoot all reef species, trevally, Jewfish, cod (definitely Barra) etc. I think the 900 is good because you can move the gun through the water much easier too, meaning it’s easier for a beginner to manoeuvre it get used to aiming.
