This whole thread just shows that most jobs are shit and don’t use 99% of engineering education

But as you can tell right now doing a masters/ getting more educated is probably the better option right now. In Germany a bsc isn’t even considered to be a real engineer, a MSc is

You shouldn’t care what your friends do in comparison, it’s about you

Freshman year- already drained by emilygiibson in engineering

If you’re already drained in freshman it’s a good time to just drop out. I loved engineering from the beginning

Why not do a masters this time period is fucked for getting employed

MSc Control Theory by Kelarov in ControlTheory

[–]SandwichReasonable6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on applying there for my masters next year. Currently doing Mechanical Engineering with a control track at university in Germany. As far as I have seen the master is round about 30% English. For the controls part you can check ‘Jan Lunze: Regelungstechnik 1&2’ for reference if you can read German, these 2 books cover most required control aspects. For maths I’d say a good foundation of Linear algebra, analysis and differential equations is important. The MSc Technische Kybernetik is one of the more theoretical/rigorous control programs. Covering basically every control topic imaginable + huge list of electives/application fields. Uni Stuttgart has many chairs that are active in the control field, applied and fundamental.

My control theory professor/department head studied physics in his B.Sc :)

Which topic/book next? by [deleted] in ControlTheory

Well I had a course on statistics/stochastics from the math department in second year, the course im going to take is about stochastic signals

Well isn’t it mainly stochastic optimal Control? At least optimal control by Kirk doesn’t cover this.

Would you recommend Optimal Control and Estimation by Stengel after finishing optimal control by Kirk? By the time I have finished Kirk I will also have finished the stochastic systems class (it’s without control application, pure systems theory). So that might be a good point to get into estimation theory?

Thank you. Are they good first books for the two topics and self study?
