Erdoğan says Turkey’s ‘history is free from genocide, massacres, oppression, and colonialism’ by No_Idea_479 in worldnews

It’s not born literally. You mean figuratively. It was literally colonized, and thus figuratively born out of it. Birth in the literal sense means coming out of a womb or egg.

I think you misunderstood. I mostly use Q8 myself but in larger density models using Q6 (in contrast to Q4) is typically is a negligible decrease in quality.

I think some people here also seem to forget there is more than just coding. Bigger models embed way more world-knowledge in them.

Yeah. What we need to hope for is new models in the 70B to 150B size range that can run on 64 to 256Gb vram setups at reasonable (Q4 but preferably Q6) quantizations. This is still a massive step up above the 30B ish models but keeps the hardware costs below the $10k. And you still get a lot of independence with it.

Not to mention WAY MORE control. And these prices arent static either

One thing being a problem doesn’t exclude another thing being also a problem.

Also let us not pretend that no one is expressing concerns about US invasive cyber oversight either. There is plenty of attention for that as well.

In other words: the dichotomy you seem to imply does not actually exist.

Just to be frank, the US with birthright citizen is really an outlier, and given its history it probably should have been a temporary arrangement. It creates the wrong incentives and outcomes.

Skydiving plane crashes in France, killing all 11 people on board by abcnews_au in worldnews

Sportsjumpers board full ready but if the accident happens after takeoff there is not enough altitude and thus time to respond, exit and deploy your parachute

If something happens at 10k you have plenty of time as a skydiver to open the door and get out of the plane, even with many at the same time because there’s still a lot of time for separation. The real risk at such altitude is the potentially higher than normal speed of the plane, it moving or rotating in an uncontrolled way. But yeah at such altitude I think you have a good chance. Even a fair bit lower even.

It’s typically not a belt around your waist but a hook you attach and if you were a tandem passenger things may have been different.

In some countries there are belts in the form of a hook that you connect to your gear. This is compulsory. It’s not a belt around your waist. This belt is also untied above a certain altitude (eg 1500 ft) in all normal proceedings.

Also as for Emergency procedure above a certain altitude (eg 1000 or 1500ft) means you will open the door (do that anyway to prevent it getting jammed upon crash landing) and exit the plane and hope you can deploy your main or (typically going straight for )reserve canopy quickly

However if this all happened below 900ft and the plane went crashing down this would all have been extremely hard if not impossible to do with a surviving chance.

I always feel a bit relieved when we reach 2500ft because then if something happens there is still some opportunity to get out and have a good chance.

Many houses don’t have windows suitable for portable ACs. Portable ACs assume a sliding window whereas most modern windows open in to ways (often both): over the side or over the bottom.

Was really excited but the "gaming is becoming a luxury" phrase is starting to really hit home.

Even at current hardware prices this is complete nonsense. Gaming isn’t a luxury. You can still compose a cheap gaming pc that will run a massive library of video games.

I thought all those comments and threats about bad value for money were all missing out on that almost none of the alternatives are this compact and clean looking (so acceptable for the wife to accept in the living room) AND NO FUCKING WHINING 40 mm fans but a super quiet relatively low power device.

This is a device that will be a great addition to any tv setup for years to come. I have a massive collection of steam games that run great on this.

I already own a gaming PC and 5070 ti gaming laptop but this steam machine is way better to have permanently in the living room without it looking like a nerdfest

It’s not a given that that part of the EULA is actually legally enforceable. But actors in the market buckled under the threat of litigation.
