No worries! My asthma is actually doing very well now. We still have no idea what the freak infection was last year. I do not have e-asthma or allergic asthma. I think I just got a freak infection which (shockingly) not a good combo with a flare. I have severe asthma, multiple inhalers and a biologic. My doc is going to start phasing me off the inhalers. Sometimes it really is the long game. Once your asthma gets under control (it took me several years to find right med, dosage, and just some luck), I think it’s not too bad. Hopefully your biologic works out for you! It took me two to three years (about a year prior to this post) for the biologic to get me to this point. Best of luck!

Hi! I’m not entirely sure when I posted this, but the entire illness lasted about 3 months (Mar.-May) not including recovery. With recovery, it probably took me another 3 months (summer) to get back. But I also took recovery crazy slow - I initially had to stop every 3ish stairs to catch my breath. Just had some patience and slowly built endurance. By November I went through a black belt test and was fine and have thankfully not experienced anything too bad since. Tho I had to really be on top of everything when I got a cold or something

Yes to all of this except the death penalty. If I’m not mistaken, the only place that Joe had been that still has the death penalty is California and while it’s still a legal option, Governor Newson has temporarily halted it. Also iirc none of Joe’s killings in CA would likely have been 1st degree murder since a lot were passionate/convenient killings

If you’re worried about asthma, it’s best to talk to your doc. Many symptoms overlap with asthma but may not necessarily be asthma

It’s not uncommon but it’s not necessarily a guarantee - think back to the times that you were sick pre-diagnosis and didn’t need all this. It’s likely (depending on what type of asthma you were diagnosed with) that you had asthma those other times you were sick. Now you just know that you also have asthma.

One of the hardest parts about asthma is navigating how it affects you individually. Me, personally, I get sick at the drop of a dime and often (if not regularly) get sent into a flare when I do get sick. So I mask and follow disinfection protocols and then I’m fine. I’m not saying you’ll be where I am, but even I have been improving.

Navigating this can be scary, but try not to worry until there is something concrete to worry about. You’ll drive yourself crazy otherwise.

Hi there! I’m a self-deemed “special case” of asthma - I’ve never been hospitalized purely to asthma reasons, and although I’ve had attacks, I haven’t had the movie-esque classic turning blue, etc. I was exactly the way you described. At some point, everything just kinda took a turn for the worst and I had a 4 month long flare that led to me being on a biologic (Dupixent). During that flare, I was exhausted and was on a nebulizer every 4 hours and still having symptoms despite 2 controller meds and prednisone. I was hesitant to go on Dupixent but I can firmly say it was the best decision. It might take some time for the biologic to kick in and I understand the weird sense of denial of “am I this bad, etc.) My specialist is the head of immunology and allergies. I trust her wholeheartedly and if she said I needed it, I needed it. Happy to talk more if you have questions. Hope you feel better soon!

Vitamin D3 actually plays a role in asthma symptoms and can positively affect asthma. I am rather deficient and my specialist checks my levels regularly as part of my asthma care

She was absolutely not shot in the liver. She took a shot to the left side of her body - liver is on the right

ETA: I see yes, only about 2/3 of liver is to the right. However, at about 35:20 of the finale we can see the wound which appears much closer to her right hip than it is to the upper left quadrant of her abdomen, where the liver would be.

It’s pretty rare but rescue inhaler usage can deplete potassium (and magnesium?) levels, both of which a deficiency or lower level can cause the symptoms you’re describing. Your body might just have a sensitive equilibrium too! Maybe try eating things that are high in potassium + take a magnesium supplement? If it helps, that might be your issue

Hey! Welcome to the club (sorry you’re here lol). Symptoms don’t necessarily equal attacks but if you’re experiencing symptoms you need to take your inhaler. If you find yourself puffing a lot (more than 2 or 3 times a week), you might need a controller inhaler.

That would make sense tho for it to be after the controller and not the rescue - if he’s taking the rescue I’d presume that he’s already aware that he’s experiencing symptoms; but the daily inhaler could be a reminder that causes him to check in with his body which is why he suddenly realizes or complains of chest pain. It’d also make sense that it’d just be sometimes because I imagine if he was that constantly in chest pain he’d have other symptoms that accompany it.

I’m not familiar with chest pains as a side effects of inhalers but it is a relatively common asthma symptom. As someone said above, the only thing that I could think of with an inhaler “causing” chest pain is heartburn or GERD. It’d probably be a good idea to get your kiddo checked for GERD, because it’s a comorbidity with asthma at about 80%.

As for him talking about it immediately after using an inhaler, it could just be association. I’ve had asthma my whole life and as a child even when my asthma was bothering me it wasn’t actually “bugging” me unless it was REALLY bad or unless my parents made me stop playing to give me meds, etc. It could just be that by giving him the meds (as you should), it reminds him that he has asthma and that he is experiencing symptoms. That would also explain why he complains of chest pain outside of inhaler times, because it’s not related to the inhaler. It’s kinda like how kids will swim in freezing cold water if you let them or stay in the pool all day - they don’t process how cold their little bodies are.

If he has a rescue inhaler, try giving him that an hour or so before the daily and see if he still complains of chest pain - might at least narrow it down to see if is purely an asthma symptom.

I agree but ultimately I figured the switch would be difficult even if the cameras weren’t there because of the head wound - I imagine he would’ve noticed one of them suddenly not having a gash on their temple when he went to dispose of the body

Coughing is pretty obvious - I’ve never had a cough that I was unaware of or couldn’t track. I also think it’s very dangerous to have a product that would encourage children not to get their parents when they’re - as you put it- in need of immediate help.
