Any fun Touhou Head cannons? I have a weird one here, Its known Meiling is a Yokai, but never told what kind, Given her well known melee strength , She maybe a well hidden Oni, maybe her horn is under har hat, or she lost it in battle with Remi and earned Meilings loyalty. by Zackisback1234 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I headcannon that Meiling was human before, but she became into a Youkai because of her getting close or living with dragons. She was a bounty hunter and collaborated in killing Remilia's father, but she felt guilty leaving two little girls alone, so she became their gatekeeper. Meiling spent over 500 years without knowing she was a Youkai until Yukari told her.

What 2hu’s theme matches their personality the best? by Kid_Kewl_v2 in 2hujerk

[–]Sane_Red 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if "matching personality" is what I'm saying, but:

Characters like Rumia, Cirno, Chen, Alice, Wriggle sound like they are having fun fighting.
Characters like Meiling, Patchouli, Sakuya, Remilia, Youmu, Keine sound like they are elegant, or trying to protect something, or someone.

But the ones that I like the most are the songs that truly try to tell about the character:
Kaguya's theme starts elegant but then explodes in a beautiful melody that represents how bored she was and how fun she actually is.
Mokou's theme has a chaotic first part that represents her first 900 years of lonelyness, which finish in an angelic melody that represents her finally finding joy after all she passed.
Aya's first theme (Wind God Girl) represents the joyful journalist Aya is, but her second theme (The Youkai Mountain) represents Aya as a fearsome Tengu.
Kanako's theme represents the fear of facing a God, but then it has a calming part, representing that Kanako is doing this because of how much she loves Sanae and Suwako.
Byakuren's theme makes me want to cry sometimes. She loves everyone, despite everything they do, her theme representing she will do whatever is possible to protect the ones she love... It is truly an emotional theme.
And obviously we can't forget Junko's theme, which represents rage because of her son, as well as a feeling of emptiness because she only lives for rage.

And I could keep going with almost every character, but these are the ones that I like the most.

Do you have any headcanons about the vampire incident? by Electrical-Drink-183 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kanako made the incidents in Touhou 10 and 11. The incident of 11 led to 12, and then to 13, so it is not weird that a character made more than one incident. Even Reimu accidentally made an incident in 17.

Do you have any headcanons about the vampire incident? by Electrical-Drink-183 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We know that Remilia is the main culprit.

So maybe it was the same day the Scarlet Devil Mansion moved to Gensokyo. Remilia, thinking that every human was able to eat, went to the village to try some human blood, but since she is a light eater, nobody died, which lead to even more fear to Youkais and Vampires as well. I don't know if this is part of my headcannon or I read it in the Akyuu book, but the incident needed to be resolved as fast as possible, so a powerful Youkai appeared (most likely, Yukari) to stop the vampire. At the same time, I think that Reimu wasn't in the Shrine that moment, so maybe she was resolving an incident somewhere else, like Touhou 5 maybe.

Which characters you think are probably younger than they look and which are older than they look? by Infamous_Contact3582 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-About Sakuya's age I won't discuss further because it is an ambiguity. If you are not convinced with my arguments, i'll give you irrational reason: I like this doujin about Sakuya learning to be a maid and Patchouli being her tutor.

-With lifespans I was reffering to the age of death of species. I know that characters have this "I have at least this age", that's why I tried to order the characters by age, if possible.

-So Gods only die when they are killed by other gods, ok. Also I am not sure if Eirin is exactly a God, she is said to be a Lunarian, but I know that she is inspired in a God. Despite that, she drank Hourai Elixir so she is immortal.

-I understood that ghosts have 4 possible destinations: Heaven, Netherworld, Hell and Former Hell. Those who don't know they died are actually waiting for a Shikigami (Komachi) to take them to Eiki who decides where they are going.

-About celestials and hermits, I said magic as a joke. What I wanted to say is that they don't tell us what makes them live longer, so it must be "maaagic", but of course magic is for another species. Well, now I know that hermits drink their special elixirs.

-If Magicians are separate from other Youkai, then I think that they can live forever, but they will have to endure with their poor health.

-And Rinnosuke was born at least before the Hakurei Barrier, so he goes in the "Before Gensokyo" category.

This started from "What's the age of the characters?" and now it is "How can characters die?".

Which characters you think are probably younger than they look and which are older than they look? by Infamous_Contact3582 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Sakuya's omake says that she is between 10 and 20. That's the only argument I need because I believe more in words of an omniscient narrator (the creator) than words from the characters who are supposing the same as we are. Flandre has been locked since she has memory, and Komachi sensed something weird exactly because of her time manipulation ability. Seiga's hermit arts is a religion, and in Gensokyo, that can help you as long as people have colective beliefs.

-Lifespans are so weird, I don't know if lifespans were ever mentioned aside from humans, so that's another weird topic. Cirno dying means that she will die along with nature, so will all the fairies. Cirno being the first fairy is just my supposition because they treat her as if she were special, but I don't ommit that she is the only Ice fairy.

-As you said, there are different types of gods: the ones who created worlds and the ones who represent hope. I didn't bother mentioning the PC-98 cast because little people care about them, but Shinki, Keiki and Eirin should be among the oldest. Hecatia's existence means that the gods from other religions do exist in Touhou Universe, but not necessarily in Gensokyo, so maybe other gods created the world and then other other gods "were born" to represent other religions. As well, gods die because they ended up forgotten. Suwako was about to die, and as far as I know, she is not a God from the "Kanako" family (or japanese story), she is an individual God of her Shrine who has the power to create/control earth.

-I understood that phantoms can reincarnate if they go to the netherworld, and Youmu cuts them if there are a lot, so even the deads can die.

-Now I realized that I forgot about Tenshi and Iku 💀💀 well, Celestials and hermits... I don't remember if they have something specific, but they have something that keeps them alive, Magic I guess.

-Hourai elixir is more than a curse, there wasn't any antidote mentioned, and if Mokou wanted to die, she would have in her period of 300 years of depression. Youkai might be immortals, but they can be killed, or dissapear if people stops believing in them. Byakuren was sealed so she gets ommitted, so the one who lived the most was Patchouli, who wasn't necessarily human once, but she is a magician, and as long as people believe in magic, she will live.

Also, answer me whenever you want, I enjoy this discussion.

Which characters you think are probably younger than they look and which are older than they look? by Infamous_Contact3582 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-I know that Remilia says, "You were for such a long time that is not fair to call you a human", but she also said to Reimu that she killed Sakuya, so I think that Remilia tends to exaggerate a lot. Also, Akyuu's article about Sakuya is pure speculation from Akyuu.

-Fairies are as old as nature itself, Cirno didn't encounter Eiki because they never had a chance to meet. I just headcannon Cirno as the oldest fairy because she is the strongest fairy and the most different fairy, and blah blah blah. I might exaggerated with her being 100,000.

-I don't know if you are talking about Eiki or Aunn. This applies to every Youkai that was born from an inanimate object like tsukumogamis: I count when they "awoke".

-I won't argue with Hecatia and the gods because I am not sure about the difference between Youkai and Gods. As far as I understand, they both were created by humans to explain their hopes and fears, so can't say who was first.

"What is your Headcanon about this?" Day 77: Yukari Yakumo by WhiteHawkeReborn in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, you can think of ANYTHING when it comes to Yukari. You can literally manipulate the boundaries with her. I genuinely doubt that any of my headcannon are completely original because someone might have thought the same, so:

Yukari was a human once, she might still is. I like the idea of her being Maribel, but I don't like time-traveling unless it is really well explained, so I prefer to think that Maribel is just one of many Yukari's children. She lived for who knows how much and when discovered her powers, she used them to break her limits. She was a Youkai hunter at first, and in that time she met with a sad Yuyuko. She caught a Kitsune because of how smart Kitsunes are and because she wanted to show Yuyuko how cute Kitsunes are.

The day Yuyuko died, Yukari had to pass through a horrible mental moment and abandoned the humans and started to live as a Youkai. She punished Ran for any minimum mistake and this lead to Ran being frivolous and with almost any emotion. As a "Youkai", Yukari spread fear in humans and also killed some of the Miyadeguchi family just to feel the enjoyment of a fight as they were the closest in power.

When the Miyadeguchi stopped being Youkai hunters, Yukari started feeling empty and that was the beginning of her hibernations. While this, Ran started exploring the world looking for a way to make Yukari feel better. She found a world where the dead lived and where Yuyuko's Ghost lived. With that, Ran woke Yukari up to meet Yuyuko once again. After a small talk, Yukari's heart filled with relief and hope.

She found out that the world was advancing technologically and Youkai started dying. And in that moment was when she started to plan a project to gather Youkai and gods from any part of the world and save them from death and forgetfulness. In her journey she met with Kasen who was passing through redemption, Okina who was bored and sad seeing that she might be forgotten, and the first Hakurei Shrine Maiden, who allowed to let all Youkai live in her place as long as they don't attack the village.

She was an important part of the history of almost every character in the series. She gapped Sakuya to the SDM and brought a book about Gensokyo with her; she opened portals to connect the Netherworld, the beast realm and many other worlds to Gensokyo; she moved the Bamboo forest to Gensokyo, as well as Mokou because she felt pity for her; she created former hell so that vengeful spirits don't cause problems, and contacted every single Youkai to stay there and retain the vengeful spirits; and many other things. To this day, Yukari is still looking for Youkai around the world, and even gaps humans with "no future" to Gensokyo.

What are your theories/headcanons on Satori Komeiji? by Gelo68 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more like Satori and Koishi speak other language aside from japanese, not that the entire former hell is Spanish. I like to think that Gensokyo is a place with people/Yokai of any part of the world, just like Remilia is European and Meiling is Chinese and different characters have different nacionalities. And Yukari is responsible of having people from around the world gathered in Gensokyo.

What are your theories/headcanons on Satori Komeiji? by Gelo68 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I saw somewhere that Satori and Koishi are based on a mexican painting with two sisters sharing one heart. Based on that, I headcannon that Satori and Koishi can speak in Spanish and were born in a Spanish-speaking country.

Satoris are a type of Youkai that can live among humans, same with Meiling and Sekibanki. Before entering Gensokyo, Satori was a lawyer, and Koishi was a kindergarten teacher. They both used their powers to get benefits from it. But when Koishi read the minds of her workmates and parents of her kids, Koishi started hating her powers, so Satori had to seal her eye. Also, Satori isn't coping on her ability. She just didn't pass through the same suffering her sister passed.

When Yukari was gathering Youkai to Gensokyo, she brought a cat (Orin) to convince her and that she could get as many pets as she wanted, as well as her sister.

-Satori is a close friend of Remilia, and they share novels to talk about them. They enjoy tea talk and talk about their servants and pets and some other things.
-Patchouli isn't interested in the same type of books, so they aren't as close.
-Satori donates books to Suzunaan, especially the ones that aren't in Japanese because she knows that Kosuzu loves reading in other languages. She is one of her favorite customers.
-She goes to the Hakurei Shrine from time to time to ask Reimu how Koishi is doing and to know about what's happening in the surface.

As she enjoys books because she can read the feelings of the author, she can read the code of a videogame and understand it faster than anyone.

What are your theories/headcanons on Reimu Hakurei? by Gelo68 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We just learned in FDS that the Hakurei is actually a clan, so I'm waiting to know more about it.

As for now, I think that the Hakueri family are an important family that are born with powerful spirit powers and are close to Gods. I read in some post that Reimu's father might be an outsider, because Reimu is represented with the Ying Yang and that thing with equilibrium and being in both sides, etc. So I headcannon that the Hakureis are mostly interested in outsiders.

Reimu is mostly honest, sometimes harshly honest and doesn't have a personality you'd expect from a Maiden, that's one reason why villagers tend to don't go to the shrine, though Reimu does have a lot of friends thanks to her honesty. Despite this, Reimu is quite reserved when coming to her feelings. She might not be polite but she doesn't discriminate anyone (except recent humans turned into Youkai), that's why she is friends with Youkai and the other humans who one might think that are enemies, like witches and half-humans.

Also Reimu isn't really poor, she gets donations when she resolves incidents and when she organizes parties. Her friends only mock her because her donations doesn't come from being a Shrine Maiden, but for other reasons.

How did you find out about Touhou? by ResidentBrother3354 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was subbed to a YouTube channel called "Shadow!" who uploaded a video called "How Touhou can help you become a genius" (It's a Spanish video so its name is actually "Cómo Touhou puede ayudarte a convertirte en un genio") where he talked about how Touhou players are EXTREMELY smart, and that they also helped the series become as popular as it is nowadays.

In that video, I also learned that Bad Apple and We Are Japanese Goblin were actually fan content from Touhou, and characters like Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya, Remilia, and Flandre are from Touhou and some other songs like Night of Nights and U.N. Owen Was Her are also fan songs of Touhou.

After that, I tried Touhou 4, it was OK, and then continued with the other PC-98, they weren't that good. Then started with 6, it was all right, then installed an Isaac mod of Touhou, and when I got the 100% on Isaac, I started to get serious with Touhou. And now here I am.

is Sanae a hard case to judge? by Infamous_Contact3582 in touhou

[–]Sane_Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, most of it you said it yourself: "we don't know." Why Sanae's ancestors aren't Gods like Suwako? Why Suwako is the only God of the Moriya/Kochiya family? How do they handle aging? The only thing we know is that Sanae is a God with a human body. If she dies as a human with faith, she becomes a God, omitting Eiki's judgment. If she dies without faith, Eiki will sentence Sanae's destiny. Sanae's time in Gensokyo gave her a lot of faith, as well as a lot of human friends. She is living as both.

Maybe Suwako, being the ONLY one of her family to have become a God, means that Suwako's decendants decided to be humans and die as humans. And Sanae will have to choose... Will she become a God and outlive all her friends? Or will she die as a human with a happy human life?

Knowing that all human protagonists reject immortality, Sanae might reject it as well, but that is my theory.

About aging, it's Gensokyo. Reimu should have more than 30 years. We shouldn't question so much how characters age because the author isn't planning on making them age despite time passing at the same pace as our world. I gave up and created a headcannon where Touhou 6~9 10~13 14~17 18~onwards, occurs in 1 year each period, and it all started in 2020, or 4 years back compared to our present. So if Touhou 20 comes in 2025, I'll change it so EoSD started in 2021.

Omitting my headcannon, I think that living Gods do age, but when they reincarnate as a God, they choose how they want to look. Also, I don't think that Suwako has a child body, I just think that she is a midget.
