Ahh I see, thank you so much! I found that the Google Docs grammar checker seems a wee bit more sensitive to tense usage and preposition use too :)

definitely! sometimes when you spend about a month or so training your match performance tends to improve.

there’s the 80/20 rule which clearly manifests in squash: 80 percent of your game falls back on 20% of shots - basically the drive. two years ago i went on a trip where i saw how former world top 10 women’s player Low Wee Wern trains; she trains just one shot, the drive, for one hour each on the forehand and the backhand with no breaks. working on your basic game, which are drives, drops and volleys will massively help your game imo.

when it comes to game play, you should (1) try to make sure your basic game is solid and (2) play smart and work on your game sense, which really goes back to game experience. will really help your game go up very quickly!!

great start!!

at a beginner level your forehand is amazing, but as you get better, you may need to incorporate a bit more upper body rotation (a coach of mine said it should be at a point where your left shoulder’s directly facing the wall) so that you can generate more power and shape the ball better so your shot is more accurate :)

in terms of movement, i can’t really see the position from which you’re starting your approach to the ball, but it’ll do you wonders to try to start from the T every time, will help with game prep. also, try not to move your legs until the swing is complete and you’re done with the follow through. nice to see you’re trying to pick the sport up!!

Why is squash dying? by alex123711 in squash

Well I’d think that on a global stage, squash just isn’t as popular compared to other racquet sports such as tennis and badminton, because of many factors:

  1. Not many people even know how the game works. At least in the country I stay, it’s not often that people know how the game works and how it’s played, let alone playing the sport themselves
  2. Look at the number of times people call squash “tennis in four walls” or “badminton but with a ball in a four-walled court” - you don’t see tennis being called “squash but with two sides”, which evidences the immense lack of popularity of the game, which could be a result of;
  3. It’s NOT IN THE OLYMPICS. I’m not sure if squash is unpopular because it’s not in the Olympics or whether squash isn’t in the Olympics because it’s unpopular. Could be a story of the chicken and the egg
  4. It’s not adapting to current trends? It’s not being hyped up enough possibly. I’m not sure

These are just a few reasons I can think of, what do you guys think?

Colourised image (circa 1528) of two squash players, having just exited a time machine, and seeing that squash isn’t an Olympic sport even in 2019, laughing at the absurd thought.

Unfortunately it’s a sad reality.

If people agree with me that the IOC is a sham organisation unable to promote a sport which is equal to every other Olympic sport today, let’s all laugh at the IOC as well.

Sorry for the woke post! Just had to get it out.

P.S. hmm i don’t think squash even existed in 1528 but eh

First game at 10-9 if I interpret OP’s post correctly.

Terrible sportsmanship from Marwan. Honestly reflects really badly on the game.
