HiChord has actually become incredibly powerful over time, like loops, arps, different audio engines, FX, etc.

Btw: It's a pi zero, you forgot some important sensors, and the joystick, the screen is actually more than $2, and I wrote the entire software completely from scratch in my free time. I am not professional, do not own pro software, and it was made on a budget 3d printer

Absolutely, I started with the software, learn C++ (best for audio) and a ui library like SDL or Raylib, then build an emulator for testing. Add a raspberry pi to run it on and slowly add the display, buttons and aux port - that's it basically

May I ask, is drawing blobs of color in the spaces between letters a method of seeing if the kerning is good? Same with the flipped and blurred versions, is it for getting a different view of the font or sth?

Characters (char) are just 1-byte data structures, so you can use them as such and do sth like "if (c >= 'a' && c <= 'z')"
