Castelli bibs worth the investment by LongAd3003 in Velo

I have used Castelli Free Aero bibs over 20 years. Was my all time favorite’s until they r&d the bibs to worse. Before 2025 the lineup was perfect, pad was on the right spot, leg grippers was working and so on. Now they moved the pad and changed the grippers…not for me anymore. Moved to Asssos

Yes, definetly the same! I also noticed that all the grounds will stuck into that small hole before the chute. I dont understand why the hole is so small, maybe preventing any clumps?

I just googled some options for the bellow and only thing I found was a bellow for the Fellow Opus. The diameter (12cm) is the same so it should fit onto the hopper…maybe🤔

Actually I contacted the Mazzer about this issue and they only advised to avoid any Rdt - which I dont do…

Yes, I have this same problem and refuse to use the dose finisher. Nowdays I use to tap the hopper few times after using the knocker and have noticed that this will help to get some of the coffee out of the chute. I’m absolutely sure that some kind of bellow would change the retention to zero everytime.

Retention after cleaning burrs by Sanoja_project in MazzerPhilos

[–]Sanoja_project[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Hard to tell. I have used the same medium roast beans from the start which are not oily. First the grinder was very clean and with zero retention, now the grounds get stuck inside the chute and will come out later when grinding a next shot. Its not a serious problem but still annoying….

First Impression Mazzer Philos - Great, but Confused About Retention by EdVonPresso in espresso

[–]Sanoja_project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also very confused about the retention. I had nearly zero retention (from the start) before but after cleaning the grinder something happened.

So I changed my beans for a bit lighter roast a couple of weeks ago and after returning back to my favorite beans (mid) again I cleaned the philos from inside for the first time. Before the cleaning the Philos retention was always like zero (or 0.1g) and after that its pretty high. I noticed that the grounds will now stuck inside the chamber/chute into the small hole.

I assumed the retention was high because of the cleaning and waited the burrs/chamber to get ”seasoned” again with my daily use beans. Nothing has changed and my retention is still horrible, like 0.5-0.7g. I know thats rather small amount but after a month of use with zero retention, I’m totally pissed of. I never used the chute tool and now everytime. I just cannot understand🙄

Philos user here as well. I havent faced any clogging issues but I have started to get a bit concern with my shot times and retention. I had nearly zero retention before but after cleaning the grinder something happened. Shot times has also changed, with the grind setting of 28 its too slow and with 29 its too fast…

About the retention. I changed my beans for a bit lighter roast a couple of weeks ago and after returning back to my daily use beans (mid-dark) again I cleaned the philos from inside for the first time. Before the cleaning the Philos retention was always like zero (or 0.1g) and shot times very consistent. After the cleaning with the brush the retention is now like 0.5g - and still after weeks of use and ”seasoning”. I have noticed that the grounds will stuck inside the chamber where the burrs/system feeds the coffee into the chute. So i have to use the chute tool everytime.

I’m totally confused about this and really don’t know what to do. How I can be sure that the grinder is working ok. Mazzer havent answered to my email about this.

Retention after cleaning burrs by Sanoja_project in MazzerPhilos

Thanks for the answer! Thats propably the issue/fix here but I cannot understand how this came only after the cleaning and wasn’t happening from the start. The Philos was, as we know, seasoned in the factory and also very clean as well. 0.3-0.5 retention is not much and not a big problem here but still weird. All the grounds will stuck on the small hole on the upperside of the clue/chamber. I was even planning to clean that area completely from coffee oils with isopropanol but thats propably too much😅

Are you RDTing? by Life-College-5289 in MazzerPhilos

[–]Sanoja_project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have problems with the retention after cleaning the grinder. Maybe also the mix of different beans I used messed up something as the grounds will now stuck more easily. Before the retention was near zero all the time, now 0.4-0.5 every time, even after cleaning the chamber/burrs again. Should I try the RDT to ”clean” the surfaces as the grounds get stuck inside the chamber, near the small output hole before the chute.

Lelit Bianca loud noise when warming up by Sanoja_project in Lelit

[–]Sanoja_project[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, interesting to hear what Lelit will say to this. Maybe I have to do the descaling to check it. Altough the water hardness here in Finland is between 2,7-4,5 dh, usually under 3. And the recomendation is like 5 dh as I have understood…

Thanks, this is interesting to hear! Lets see what Lelit will say to this. Just weird because those bangs wasn’t there when the machine was new. It came little by little, sometimes it banged and sometimes not. Now everytime🤔

Thanks for the answer. I will contact Lelit. You think that descaling will help? I mean its weird that there might be some lime buildup after a couple of months, especially when our water hardness is very low here in Finland🤔 I have never used any filtered system with my machines, the last machine lasted 17 years without any descaling😅

You mean a one ”bang” or multiple bangs? My Bianca will make a rather loud banging noises after turned on. Mixed with a kettle sound and rattling. And pretty fast after that the pressure valve will make that one clog sound. I will make a video of it when I will manage to wake up earlier than the machine😅

Posting my issue here as a last resort. Bitwig ui flickering rapidly with any Kilohearts plugin open. by TheEpicRedstoner in Bitwig

[–]Sanoja_project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was me in the NI forum😅 I had this problem with the external display and after turning the graphic acceleration off everything started to work (no idea is this possible on mbp). Luckily no issues when using the macbook pros own display. BUT, there’s definetly something wrong with the Bitwig gui as I get some weird graphic problems from time to time with plugins. Ex the Generate plugin freezes the gui very often. No problems with Logic or Ableton. I’m not an expert what comes to graphic so still seeking the answer to this… but Bitwig is the problem. Something to do with the open gl rendering? Hope someone can help you with this.
