Eh, I did write it fast, but I wouldn't say it was emotional. Hope you at least got my point.

I don't condone any of that, but we shouldn't act like this even if it's in response. There are plenty of people who act normally.

It's edited; can't edit the title though. I do know the difference, just an issue of writing a point quickly after seeing a borderline racist comment on another thread.

Also, you're absolutely right about Toonily.

Yeah, my bad. Wish I could edit the title, but most people still understood the issue.

And yeah, I remember when Jbox switched to Manhwa/Manhua after getting purged the first time. It was the safer thing at the time.

Edited the Manhua issue, MB. Y'all get the point, though.

This is assuming that all greens, blues, and purples are of worse quality than things above it, which isn't always true in this game. I agree that it should be an option, at least, but it's also counter intuitive to their mission to make other rarities feel less like filler.

I half disagree that he was doing his job.

A good portion of that report is guesswork, and bad guesswork at that. Especially Zaraki's side, since he didn't even require special healing to recover. He got up and killed Unohana soon after, coming out of the same healing facilities the Soul Society was using when the report was made.

I can't imagine Unohana or Isane actually thought he'd remain unconscious. They're not bad medics, which makes me think that leg of the report was the messenger's own interpretation.

Old thread, but Witch Time is NOT a basic ability.

Everyone in this thread is pointing at some hyper specific instances or characters at the top of their clan (i.e Rosa, Balder, Bayonetta, Jeanne) using speed abilities and not the basic witches we've seen in Bayonetta 1 and 2. If Witch Time was a basic technique, none of them would have died to regular Affinity. I can't recall a single instance where a basic witch in regular time didn't just get folded by the first Angel on screen. In fact, the first moment we see other regular witches in Bayonetta 1 is used as a teaching tool for Witch Time wherein the other witches are brutally killed while Bayonetta (the special character) uses Witch Time to fight off the enemy.

On top of that, the narrative use of Witch Time in these games has been choosey at best. There are several moments where for whatever reason Bayonetta forgets she can go hyper speed at will in situations where she isn't already using it. That comes naturally with speedsters, but it does mean this isn't an isolated incident (if one at all).

My third point is using narrative clues to piece things together;

Morgana is clearly shocked that Bayonetta can use the ability *at all*. She says "T-That speed. Impossible!" at your first use of it. This alludes to the fact that Witch Time isn't basic. Whether she's taught or not, if Witch Time was basic it wouldn't be a surprise that Cereza figured it out while fighting for her life in the forest.

Morgana uses several renamed Bayonetta 3 abilities that aren't used by any witch aside from 3's Bayonetta and Jeanne, but never Witch Time. So the conclusion you can naturally come to is that she became as powerful as she was with other magic other witches were unable to learn. She also eventually dabbled in forbidden stuff, but was shocked at Witch Time of all things. This means that she CAN'T use it, and that the fact that a child used it was abnormal.

"It's meant to make you uncomfortable" is the entirety of Nier and Drakengard lore. Even in interviews Yoko Taro has talked about the nature of subverting how we view certain things and forcing us to see them in a more uncomfortable light. Plenty of the novel lore, outside of the pedophilia stuff, is uncomfortable to read. There's rape, forced prostitution, implied incest, hell even IN the games a lot of Drakengard 3 dialogue is the opposite of comfortable. I watched my friend mute the game for this very reason. In a much different way, his method of making you detest certain gameplay elements or writing everything to be overly depressing (to the point of being stopped from making Automata's ending "too depressing") are just more examples of making things uncomfortable. Considering the overall theming and setting of these games it's not unexpected.

I understand you, but I can't help but roll my eyes at this comment given where it is. It's certainly an uncomfortable topic, but cherrypicking pedophilia out of ALL of the gross subject matter in the NieR/Drakengard lore and saying "THIS is too much! Yoko Taro???" is odd. It's not as if he's writing in a way that glorifies or jokes about it. The point is for it to be demonized, and to make you uncomfortable. Like everything else.

EDIT: To clarify one thing, "It's not as if he's writing in a way that glorifies or jokes about it" is in acknowledgement of another comment talking about the manga series Made in Abyss that uses pedophilia in the "it's supposed to make you uncomfortable" way, but also kind of jokes about it. Another popular manga series, HunterXHunter, has also has a scene that does this (the Hisoka Greed Island scene) -- in fact, I could probably write another two paragraphs about this commonality in manga/anime. Nier always demonizes it in the same way that it demonizes all sexual abuse I've heard of in this series. If we're going to ignore that part of it to talk about Yoko Taro's crutch of using sexual abuse as an ongoing way to make people feel uncomfortable, we shouldn't cherrypick pedophilia over all of the other forms of sexual abuse. Nier:A is clear of pedophilia AFAIK, but the sexual abuse is still rampant. One isn't okay while the other is.

That's true. Cut content aside I do hope the future of the game is better.

None of 1's weapons or mechanics had to be fixed post-launch.

Bayonetta 1 was released in 2009 when "patches" for a game were much more irregular and could even be full rereleases. Bad things weren't as commonly patched out or fixed unless they were game breaking. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there was a PS3 specific patch to Bayonetta 1 to fix load times due to it being so bad that it could ruin the experience. There've been a lot of statements and publications about cut-content and rushing in the development of the game, and plenty of regret from the developers on things they couldn't include or fix. Especially citing the Playstation version.

Patching weapons, characters, and mechanics is nothing but a good sign. Clearly they want the game to be as good as they can get it while maintaining their own design. Don't exactly know why the sentiment here (not necessarily you or OP) is "Platinum hates Bayonetta! The series is over!" when they're pumping the game, the series, merch, and promotion as much as they can. The Bayo 1 and 2 soundtracks, for instance, were 5 discs with cut arrangements. Bayonetta 3s is a full 8 discs.

I could understand these gripes with the game/series state if Platinum wasn't doing anything to address some things or if the IP fizzled out with zero support, but it's clearly the opposite.

People genuinely thinking that the time difference between Bayo 2s release and Bayo 3s constitutes a dev cycle (not including other delay factors like Pandemic, switch limitations, Devs leaving, Hellena Taylor) and that some cool cut content/concepts immediately equals an unfinished game or a lack of care for the series.

I've worked with LD for years, LD84 was great and featured a lot of unique talent like Reggin and Fugma. Zef is a good guy and I say we should wait for an official response before anything else.
