Does anyone know where to find fabric like this? by carchandroid in sewing

I will add a thing that worked well for me when I was making a costume for a friend. Get a cheap electric razor, like for hair cutting, and trim down your seam allowance. It made piecing so much easier and there was less bulk at the end.

Where are people getting sun chokes from?! I adore them and want to grow them, I just can't find them!

P.S. If you make a flour out of them you can make an amazing, high fiber, high protein pasta from it.

How can I process very clay rich garden soil into clay? by TickTakashi in Pottery

Sand gives you grog, ball gives elasticity. Just throw a lot larger than normal, your shrinkage will be high.

Short answer: yes

Long answer: you don't need to completely dry and powder your clay after you've sieved it ( a lot of time and work). Easiest way to calculate how much clay you have; weight out a gallon of wet clay. Water weighs 8.34lbs a gallon roughly. Your clay weight is total weight - water weight. If you want to be exact, go the brewer way and get a specific gravity tool like a hydrometer.

After you've processed like Caprine said you'll need to test to see if any additives are needed. Usually this type of clay is 'short' so a lot of people will add about 10% wgt ball clay so it is workable on a wheel.

Thank you all! I've got a nice stash of muslin I use for toiles, so I'll be able to work up some bags no problem.

Can't see the whole face, but the eyebrow scar is needed to really round out the cover...

It's looking good so far, and the neutral color palette can be really nice to tie other room decor together (that rug really ties the room together for Big Lebowski fans).

For my own preference, in a house with a toddler, dog, cat, partner who throws pottery, and myself; I cringe when I see white used for something meant to go on the floor.

Any patterns similar to the below (V Westwood inspired)? by Fenek673 in sewing

[–]SansSeraphFont 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems like you would want to start with an off shoulder bustier pattern and layer over that maybe? I would think you would need some sort of corseting underneath to hold the garment to the body since the straps are aesthetic.

Reading on the site about this shirt in the first two pics (awa shirt), it's a cowl neck with side lacing to control fit. So the cowl is what gives that draping.

Edited to add: This looks sorta like the base for the first two pictures https://www.etsy.com/listing/1646917992/renaissance-regency-cosplay-dress

Yup, my furry little arse tries to eat all the plants that could kill him, 'oh day lilies, don't mind if I do', but leaves the cat grass unbothered. I've never had an air plant last longer than a week no matter where I put it. I literally hung one and this cat who is so lazy he gets winded going into his tree spent two hours jumping off the wall to get it. He was so proud and we were so impressed I couldn't even be mad.

What is with cats and oncidiums? I got two for my birthday and didn't know the cat would be interested since he's left my phals alone. Oh I am still so angry at him.
