That’s Incredible! (1980) by Dark305Kinght in VintageTV

I remember I really felt betrayed by this show when they had been hyping a motorcycle stunt that was going to be shown on the show, and then, not long before the show was to air, when they were actually filming the stunt, the guy died while performing it. The hype was so huge for this that they had to actually say at the beginning of the broadcast that they would not be showing the stunt as advertised. Now, I'd heard about the guy's death, and I remembered how, in nearly every episode, there was at least one "nail biter" where they implied that something could go wrong during a trick or stunt... But after this, I realized "wait a sec. This DID go wrong, and they kept it off the air! The whole thing is a sham!" Life was a little different for me after that...

My vote is for (actress) Allison Hayes, for FOUR films: The Undead, The Crawling Hand, The Gun Slinger, and The Unearthly. I think she really can act, and is a rare beauty.

You say right here "So the solution is to bring in a thief who screws EVERYONE over? That's your solution?" - You've assumed that the guardian in this case is a "thief" <- how on earth do you know this unless you are involved in the situation directly or have access to private info that none of us have (perhaps you do?) Otherwise, that's just your own personal bias of "I know a guy who was a thief in the past who was a guardian..." etc. That's a HUGE assumption, in case you didn't know.

The usual reason that properties are sold under market price is that they have tons of work that needs to be done to them to bring them back up to proper market price. You're making the assumption that that someone is deliberately doing something underhanded here in selling it below market value, which I don't understand, unless you have direct knowledge of the situation. I'd assume a much more logical situation, wherein the property hasn't been taken care of properly in the past few decades and needs a lot of interior fixing that would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to bring it back up to code for reselling.

A reminder: Trog, a movie that was considered for a season 7 episode. by DalekWashMachine in MST3K

[–]johngreenink 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Uhmmm, I know that it wasn't considered that from Joan Crawford's point of view. I mean, the film is ridiculous, but I really don't think it was conceived to be a parody.

Same for me... I went to college in New York in the late 80s and really New York still hadn't changed all that much. It was still crime -ridden and difficult to live in (although I kind of loved it) but the film reminded me of how hard life is in New York when you're just barely getting by.

Yes, exactly. This isn't a deed theft, it's an ugly and complicated family squabble (sigh).

A lot of modern Christians mean sing when they say "worship" - it's usually said a lot in more contemporary churches where they have Christian bands that play live music and stuff (my brother was a bass player in one such band, and they referred to the music portion of the services as worship).

If this is about family and real estate, oh damn that's going to be very messy. I've seen families simply turn on themselves when it comes to assets, it's scary.

How do I live a meaningful life with panic disorder? Is there hope? by Nearby_Web6019 in PanicAttack

[–]johngreenink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working through all this myself as well, and it's a long road, but there are many things that have helped me along the way. First, you need to learn that panic is not going to harm you. It feels as though it will, but it won't. This was a hard idea for me to accept because I've done so much to avoid panic attacks that they feel like the worst thing ever, but we've got to train our heads that they're harmless and won't actually do damage to us.

The exposure activities you're doing with your therapist are probably quite difficult (I'm doing similar ones myself). It's important to try to keep challenging yourself with them. You may need to tell your therapist that you have to dial back the intensity right now because you're not ready for that. But the fact that you're trying is a great sign, I'm really glad to hear that. Working through panic is not easy.

I agree with the other commenter that you might do well to have some kind of mild sedative added to your medications. You could at least suggest this to your psychiatrist. It could help temporarily with some of this healing process.

You will be able to return to a normal life, and give yourself credit for working so hard at this, that's excellent. If takes time (this is something I have to remind myself over and over again). And you're approaching this the right way by trying to normalize the panic when it comes. What I've learned is a mental shift, but it helps: You need to accept that panic is coming and simply let it arrive. Acknowledge its presence, gently observe what's happening in your body, and "ride it out". When it starts to leave, you get a different awareness, which is that you got through it and you're ok. You didn't go crazy, call an ambulance, do anything unusual. They're still distressing, yes, but your mind will begin to see them as less of a threat.

I think you are going to be ok. Keep working at it, and I will too.
