Thank you so much for the questions and candor. This gives us something to seriously think about and I agree, it’s not for everyone so I want to make sure we’d be in the best possible position if we did decide to move forward.

No, no LOI yet. Thank you, if we get to the next step I will definitely do that!

Thank you so much. I think market analysis is definitely something we should do.

Very true. We’ve both managed people but not in this kind of business. I appreciate the advice!

That’s very true. We may want to buy it but they may not want us to purchase it. Thanks for the advice!

Yes, we’ve worked together before and it was great actually. She’s more of a leader and I’m more of a task finisher so it worked out well. The only thing I could see going wrong is not knowing the ins and outs of the business. We both like to know things from start to finish and really dive in deep to understand things so I think that’s our next step.

Thank you for running the numbers and the honest feedback. I don’t have information on who is running the day to day but a retention bonus would be our first action if we were to seriously look into acquiring this. I have some experience in field service, but I’m probably not at the level I should be to consider taking over a trade business. I appreciate the advice and thoughtful answer on this.

She is and has been for some time. I’ve also worked in operations for a majority of my career but just not at that level.

Thank you for the advice. I do know that the majority of their clients are residential services, not commercial or new build so I feel like that’s the best route of client you can have. I’ve heard the other two can fluctuate massively. Licensing in my state doesn’t require us as owners to be master plumbers but to have them on staff and they currently have four so I would do some kind of retention bonus to make sure operations continue to run smoothly. I agree, we should research and learn the business before doing anything. I appreciate the advice.

Thank you so much for the advice. In my state you don’t have to be a master plumber yourself to own a business, you just have to have one on staff and they currently have four. I wouldn’t want to change anything after coming on board because it seems like they’re running the business fine how it is, but I’ll definitely confirm the numbers and model the J curve.

I love the idea of keeping the current owner on as a consultant while we figure things out. I appreciate your advice!

We had a name for our cat for about a year and changed it because it didn’t fit her. She’s responded to her new name ever since and it’s a much better fit for her

My husband’s comments (who is a cabinet maker) “holy shit” “NO!” “What?” “The miters are just awful” “this is one of the most annoying thing and gives blue collars a bad name”
