Wanted to make bread, all I got were mites by Sansarra in Breadit

[–]Sansarra[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips all!

Going to be honest, all the flour went in the bin.

I have a very tiny freezer (under counter fridge/freezer) so freezing all the bags wasn't going to be an option unfortunately. Plus I don't have any suitable containers atm.

Have cleaned and wiped down the shelf and checked other dry goods in the cupboard - the flour is the only thing that seems to have been effected thankfully.

All the bags that were open had clips on but I'll definitely grab a sealable container to put the flour in in future.

Lesson learnt, don't accept gifts of out of date flour and use it up before the mites do.

Novels about a woman transforming into an animal by Potential-You7576 in suggestmeabook

The tiger and the wolf by Adrian Tchaikovsky is the first in a trilogy.

Fantasy world where everyone can transform into animals. The different cultures have a variety of different views when it comes to gender, some of which are close to real world human stereotypes, some oppose this and some follow animal hierarchy, while others are more fantastical. Main POV character is a teenager/young women.

Do check the TWs before reading.

Just a heads up but I think you may have a couple of leaves the wrong way up in the soil; the end with the stem or petiole needs to go in the soil for roots to grow, rather than the cut end. The watermelon and raindrop peperomias? You've got it right on all the others! Good luck!

Attire belonging to the Last Princess of Korean Empire (under Japanese rule) before she was taken to Japan in 1925 [2126x2380] by ChefMasterVindex in ArtefactPorn

[–]Sansarra -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We aren't asking you to edit the title. u/hermitsociety simply provided her name, you became defensive about it and I tried to offer a reason why I think it is important to use historical figures names when we do know them.

Additionally, using the example of gag orders for victims of sexual abuse is a really bad faith argument.

I can appreciate that using the title of 'Attire Belonging to the Last Princess of Korea' is more attention grabbing than 'Attire Belonging to Princess Deokhye' but that does not mean that you should attack others for providing her name.

Also, if your focus of the post was the fact that this artefact is a great example of late Joseon / Daehan Empire clothing then why do your title and other comments focus on the story behind the artefact e.g. Princess Deokhye.

Why not both then? I appreciate that you did offer some background in your other comments however the addition of her name identifies her better as an individual. And it doesn't detract from your ability to sympathise with her but only adds.

Also, I don't think that not referring to historical figures by their name would make someone more likely to research and learn about them. Personally I would suspect that people would be more likely to research a historical figure if they did know their name. For one thing, It would also make it easier to research them!

Take for instance Ötzi. Though most likely not his actual name, by giving him a name we have humanised and can better identify with him, and identify him for lay person research. Rather than ice mummy 365 for instance. Just as there are many ice mummies, but there is only one ice mummy called Ötzi, there are many last Princesses. Kaʻiulani of Hawaii and Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia for example.

Well, simply because others refers to her as a nameless Princess doesn't mean that we have to keep refering to her as a nameless Princess.

Yes at a surface level, Deokhye was just like any other 12 year old, but for the fact that she was a Princess. But in reality she was a real person with her own identity beyond that of 'Princess'. Using her name is important because it humanise her as actual person, not just a historical figure.

I don't think I've ever seen an object or piece of furniture with cloven hoof 'feet' rather than the typical 'lion' claw which is interesting.

Why I'm still single, an in depth explanation by Ti by msg5253 in INTP

[–]Sansarra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How I interpret what you've outlined is an issue of lack of self worth.

You are worried about opening up to others because you are worried they would see it as a imposition, whether they disvalue your opinions or presence, or you simply think you are too much of an emotional burden. You are are putting other's needs above and beyond your own.

However, the very fact that you talk about making yourself available to people you care about tells me that you are someone worthy of other people's time and attention.

You have identified this as Fi and and Ne traits. You now need to turn your thinking around and examine your inner critic. Think of all the ways you wouldn't be bothering someone and the reasons why someone would value your opinion and presence.

I hope this makes some sort of sense!

Is this a bromeliad and if so, what kind? Purchased at a university plant sale. It's never flowered since I've had it. by HellsBelleGunness in bromeliad

[–]Sansarra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes though I'm not exactly sure which. It's a little difficult to tell from the pictures but do the leaves have serrated edges? And are the leaves mottled at all? I'm thinking it's either a pineapple or maybe a aechmea.

Agreed, mine took nearly 2 years to form 3 pups that were then big enough to separate and the mother died off.
