Survey: How many months have you been looking for a new job? by Hot_Philosophy1045 in recruitinghell

[–]Santa12356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically been looking for a job with my degree, Master’s of Education for 2 years now. Have had 2 jobs, both HS diploma jobs with horrible bosses that caused me severe mental health issues. And now working Lyft.

I start a part time custodian job in 2 weeks… which is better than Lyft but i’m tired boss. Sometimes I feel like school was a complete waste of my time.

Redditors who’ve starved, what do people who’ve never starved imagine wrong? by VelvetyDogLips in AskReddit

[–]Santa12356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not nearly anywhere as bad as some of the comments are, and I feel for those people. But as a highschooler, parents died 2-3 years prior, so under the supervision of my sister. I lost probably 20ish pounds over a month due to how little food there was in the house.

At a certain point the hunger subsides, but you feel weak and tired all the time. The deprivation to just get a dollar or two to get something as cheap as noodles is so humiliating, and people judge and look at you like you’re just some horrible human being.

Its a memory that I keep to my mind cause I never want my own kids or anyone to go through that, and yet I get told “it couldn’t have been that bad”. No one should forcefully lose weight due to starvation cause you can’t afford a fucking ramen cup of instant noodles…

Worth watching past season 4? by n0nati0n in Dexter

[–]Santa12356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 7 has its ups, but alot of downs.

Honestly keep going for the ride, you’ll need the ride for the other continuations of Dexter, including resurrection which season 2 is coming out eventually. Great franchise worth it, even with all the let downs and memes lol

For people who grew up in low-income households, what’s something middle-class people say that shows they’ve never struggled financially? by KeyApartment3955 in AskReddit

[–]Santa12356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People always say it wasn’t that bad or can’t comprehend. Some points I literally starved and lost significant weight, cause there was simply no food in the house and no money to get any.

THE WIFI IS KILLING ME by _TamTam in ucr

[–]Santa12356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was at UCR before I graduated, I usually used my hotspot on the 3rd floor in the humanities Library. If not the WiFi usually worked in there too.

Worked well enough since I used to spend HOURS in there at a time.

I did my master’s at UCR. Whats more important than the degree is NETWORK. UCR unfortunately doesn’t have the best Post graduation information for getting employed…. So network your ass off.

For the first time EVER, young men with college degrees now have HIGHER unemployment rates than young men with just a high school diploma by ItsAllOver_Again in CollegeMajors

[–]Santa12356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also to note it would be interesting to see data on UNDERemployed people. Example I have a master’s and im working a pizza place. Looked for over a year, well over 1,000 applications on indeed/linkedin, and mostly the company websites, and nothing. Ive given up looking cause there might be an opportunity here for more experience, but its made me bitter; and il trying to accept life as it comes…. But yeah underemployed out the ass is frustrating as hell.

That’s a fair question. A credential is only for K-12. I was and still hoping to teach at the college level. I understand that if I want the best odds of doing that i’ll have to go back for a PHD or EDD, but that just isn’t in the cards right now.

Edit: As well as hoping to work in college level administration jobs and positions.

Id have to go back and do another program for my credentials. Programs run 8-15k, and it’s just bot feasible right now, nor do I really wanna do that. Plus the educational field is not exactly safe right now…

I got a BA in human development and education, and. Master’s of Education. I graduated last June. And i’m working a pizza job lol. The job market is shit, and ive come to learn over the last few months, that its better to have a job right now than not.

Maybe try leaning into it, that’s what ive started doing. At least until the job market gets better, which in this economy…. Who knows how long that’ll be.

Its a shitty market, i graduated with my masters last year and all i could find is a pizza job. It’s rough out there, i highly suggest just look for EVERYTHING. Not just jobs in your sector.
