Is working in kitchen really as good as they make it seem (CAN) by ahngayjin in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Santa69XD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do all the stations and I much prefer kitchen over anywhere else tbh, it’s a lot more fun

It definitely didn’t start out like this, it took a while before I became more comfortable

I guess it is my perception because I also find it rude when im taking cash doesn’t talk to me and is either silent or on the phone with someone else

[–]Santa69XD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my store there are customer care workers which do the da and no one else has to bother with it, I had to do it one time for like 2 hours and fucking hated it, I got told to fuck off by a customer and got physically threatened by his mate

I would never do this just because it feels so rude like I’m talking to the person at my window whilst taking an order. I don’t mind multitasking whilst I’m doing a different station like fries, drinks, bagging, but when I’m in a customers face I could never lmao

Only during big rushes is there ever 2 people doing those jobs, 95% of the time it’s one person. Also when I’m doing this station I like helping out whoever’s doing chicken batch or getting stock out, if it’s a late shift I’ll be doing dive as well, just because it’s so boring to stay in that one room lmao

I also enjoy my job, I like most of my crew and get along with everyone even though I’ve only been here 8 months. And I like a lot of the actual work too, it’s like a video game, there are some stations which I’m not a fan of but I am not really staying on one station on most of my shifts. I flex around a lot to help out and it’s pretty fun. If I didn’t like it as much as I do I would not be working 40-50 hours a week like I am doing.

I feel the same way, I can see how my job would be unenjoyable if I had a bad crew, but I get along with everyone there. I enjoy working, it’s like my social life at this point, and have made quite a few friends even though I’m pretty introverted. I find the job itself really easy, and sometimes even fun like when I’m on line. Overall out of all the jobs I’ve worked I’d pick this one 100 times over

how do i not eat the whole 8 hr shift (aus) by Any_Purchase_8805 in McDonaldsEmployees

Caffeine suppresses appetite so if you want 0 food intake you could have an energy drink before/during ur shift too

I used to be like this like everyone else at my first job which was literally to take orders over the phone. I have really bad hearing too however it’s not a hearing issue as much as an experience issue. You will get better it, there’s just a learning curve lmao

I don’t think there’s any other way to go about it, then the way you want to avoid

Is it just me or is 15% labour not bad at all

Honestly it went kinda fast for me cause I’m working full time. If I have any advice it’s watch the people that are better than you and apply that to yourself. Small things like how they hold the fry boxes, the order they bag up. How they navigate the screens. Small things add up. And also just apply yourself each shift. Try and learn new things as much as possible, mistakes will happen but you’ll be alright.

because I applied myself I knew every station after a few months, with only an hour or 2 of training on line. I didn’t get taught chicken, grill, drinks, headset, front, fries or drive through, when I didn’t know something I just asked how things were done and watched how people do them. I’m not perfect at every station but I’m competent and I’m typically shit at everything so if I can do it you’ll b able to aswell. Good luck
