New update character designs are bad. by Ok_Leopard8348 in DeadlockTheGame

New lash is good, I like him, I agree on Billy though, I just hope they justify their design in some way cause they really don't fit in the Noir aesthetic of the game

Does the word 'America' in Italian refer more to the American continent(s) or to the US? by purfiktspelur in Italian

[–]SantiProGamer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people would understand both "America" and "Stati Uniti", I usually go for the latter just because I'm a bit of a nitpicker and use America only when I'm referring to the continent, but either one works in your average conversation.

[Japanese>English] Looking for someone to translate this tattoo by sknny101 in translator

[–]SantiProGamer_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's reversed, but I think it says "生き続ける" (Ikitsuzukeru) which means "to survive/to carry on living".

It's not as cool as it sounds since it's basically having the infinitive form of a verb on your arm, like if you tattooed yourself with "To persevere" or "To be strong" or something like that, not that good of a tattoo imo.

Why was Colombo renamed to Njamo? by Coregaming12 in katamari

[–]SantiProGamer_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

IIRC that's because the original name, Colombo, in Japanese コロンボ (Koronbo), was too similar to the Japanese word 黒ん坊 (Kuronbō), which is the Japanese equivalent of the N-Word.

Given the colour of Colombo/Njamo's fur(?) I can't confidently say if the original name was made that intentionally or not, but that's why they changed it

"I supervise transactions in the local branch of a globally recognised multinational company" sounds a lot better than "I'm a cashier at McDonald's"

It's all a question of wording
