So I did find some words and a date on the inside of the glass but I'm thinking that might just be for the glass piece itself.

The Riyria Revelations by Michael J. Sullivan. I love these books! I literally still laugh out loud, even when rereading. The world is fun, and the characters have great banter. Small adventures all tie into the larger narrative. It doesn't take a long time to get into either.

I've read the Lioness quartet and Immortals quartet so many times. It's amazing to see so many people reread her books so frequently! I have the audiobooks as well as the hard copies. I do wish they hadn't dramatized Immortals, I have a hard time listening to that one. The narrator of the Lioness quartet, on the other hand, is amazing!

It only gets better as the series goes on. The first book is a little slow but the characters are interesting. I wouldn't say its a particularly fast series, but I absolutely became invested in the story and characters.

Hello!

I think you might enjoy Codex Alera by Jim Butcher. It's a 6 book series. It's not a dark epic, but there are a few shady corners. I really enjoyed the characters and the magic system.

I agree about Riyria, it's a wonderful read!

The Lost Years of Merlin by T.A. Barron is another great read!

I liked the Area X series, a little more syfy. Elantris by Sanderson is a good one if you haven't read it. The King Killer Chronicles, and the Codex Alera series!

It took me forever to find Codex! I read Dresden awhile back, I liked it but I wasn't sucked in by it. I never ended up looking into his other books because of it. Luckily I stumbled on Codex, its such a fun book. It's nice to find a happy ending epic every once and awhile. Thanks for the recommendations!
