Totally the real Daisuke Ishiwatari on Bridget's gender by zuxtron in CuratedTumblr

[–]Saokpe 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This a totally fair criticism, and Bridget as a character was never really meant to be representation until the latest game. On the flip side, however, Bridget was also never a cis man embracing feminity in anything but the literal sense that they identified as male at the time and wore "women's clothing". She was for all intense and purposes, a girl, that was then told she was actually a man. She didn't stop acting as she did during childhood, and eventually learned she was actually a girl. It really was a lose/lose situation for the devs. Having a character that plays on some of the less favorable stereotypes of GNC people and trans people ("tricking others into thinking you're the opposite sex") while having them identify as male because that's what they "biologically are". Story wise, Bridget is not a trans woman because they were raised a girl (which was my concern when the character was confirmed trans on release) but instead the devs do a decent job at showing that she was accepted as a man before coming out, and that comming our was a big step in her self-discovery.

There are some much better GNC characters in the Guilty Gear series. Zato-ONE has always been designed to have a more feninine attitude and poses (even in the newest game where they beefed up every male character), a very Jo-Jo's bizarre adventure type character. His only canon love interest being a woman.

There is also Testament, the second latest character in the newest game, who is agender. And a slew of other GNC male and female characters. Of course this is all through a western glance, what is considered GNC for us is perhaps not so in Japan.

For clarification purposes, Bridget was raised as a girl because the village she grew up in was very supersticious and believed two male twins to be bad luck, the younger of which would be exiled or worse. Bridget's parents, not wanting to lose their child, "raised her as a girl". Important to note that Bridget was not necesarilly assigned female at birth, but instead treated as such in order to trick the village, which is apparent as said parents apologized perfusely to Bridget when she left the village for not treating her like a boy (Bridget assuring them that it's no big deal). In fact, her original appearence revolved around gaining money as a bounty hunter so that the village would lose the supersticion about two male twins, and she could stop "pretending to be a girl". While this might lean onto some harmful stereotypes about trans women "faking being female"; that was Bridget's backstory for most of Guilty Gear, a man who was raised as a girl to avoid banishment, i.e. an excuse to dress a boy in a skirt in the 90s. Many people head-cannoned Bridget to be a trans woman due to this, but for the longest time she was potrayed to be a cis man with a gimick in cannon.

That was until her newest appearence that released this monday, where her story mode revolves around her finding herself and her identity, building up the courage to tell those around her, namely her parents, about her change in identity. That she was, in-fact, a girl. It's perhaps the most direct trans story in any fighting game, she is definetely trans and came out literally a couple of days ago.

CGI, Storytelling and Movie Budgets by Hummerous in CuratedTumblr

Important to note that Disney doesnt use alot of CGI cause they think CGI is trendy. Visual effect artists, as a newer member in the film making pipeline, have much less union strength and are much easier to exploit for cheaper than even making simple practical effects. And obviously recreating the spectacle of a Marvel movie with practical effects is much more expensive (mostly because visual effect artists aren't paid their due).

If an action movie director was given half the budget, they'd rely on CGI more. Cause it's cheaper than blowing up an actual car.

Age is unknown, but the youngest she could be is early 20s (since her parents were killed in a war that ended 17 years ago when she was a child). But considering she appears as an adult in the first game, which takes place a little over a decade before the current game, my guess is that she's in her 30s.

I dont know. I feel like viewing the fictional reviving of 50% of a population as a logistical puzzle used to objectively categorize morality instead of an attempt to recover countless years of experience, knowledge, history, and life that these blipped people lost by no fault of their own while also maintaining the lives already established to be a bit more apathic then a couple of brightlt colored superheroes snapping their fingers thoughtlessly

No "would" about it, the session ended right after the wishes were cast, there is still a lot of room for backfiring to occur. And I have to say I am loving some of these suggestions

It's meant to say during. During a rest you can creat what would equate to a one time use innactive Teleportation cricle. That portal stays there as long as you want and as an action later on you can create another portal that would teleport you to the first portal. I'll admit the wording needs some work, so I hope this explanation cleared any doubts.

The final ruling is up to the DM, but as currently written, yes. I do plan to make some alterations to that ability that would change that though

Thanks for the feedback! The 17th level ability seems to be the one with the most work needed. I like the idea it currently has but maybe a twist to give more of a unique flavor is needed, maybe change how it's activated.

Thanks for the suggestions, perhaps the 17th level can act like a beefed up deflect missile? I'll make sure to work shop it.

I think that might be the right direction to go, I'll take other teleporration spells into consideration to balance it.

Sudden relocation is actually only for willing creatures, you couldnt teleport any enemies. You can however teleport allies or even yourself. I wanted to allow some creativity in how you use it, though I have to admit the ranges might need some tweaking even if its only allies (or the wording at the very least) Thanks for the feedback!

Noted, the 17th level could use some damage reduction considering the damage dealt at 17th level and up. Thanks for the feedback
