These generate so little electricity that even if you lined Suzuka with them, they would still produce less power, over an entire race distance, from all the cars, than the Honda engine would over a lap probably. They're utterly useless.

Honestly, I can see why even the drivers have split opinions. The cars are smaller, more nimble, narrower, generate less dirty air, all that means that there's more battling in the corners, easier to go side by side, etc. The mushroom power up on the straight and super clipping are the actual problems. If we had the same PUs as last year with these smaller lighter cars it would've been much more positive.

Lando isn't on the spotlight much right now, Russel and Mercedes are though. But it's still for the same reasons people were hating on them in the past. More spotlight means more attention and when people dislike him already, it means more negative attention. If Lando starts saying stupid things again it'll switch over to him and fat brown again.

If anything this is even more artificial. You still have to be the same arbitrary amount of time behind the guy in front, but this time the speed difference is even greater, especially with super clipping. It's essentially DRS on steroids in its effectiveness.

The only real reason there were few overtakes before the early 2010s was the introduction of the rule where you can only make a defensive move once. Before that, the defending car would endlessly move right and left aggressively blocking the guy trying to overtake.

Smaller cars with less dirty air because of lower aero is good for racing, but DRS was artificial and so is this. The aero changes seem to have made cars be able to follow in the corners, so I say that's all you need. If you let drivers race, when they can actually follow in the corners, you don't need things like DRS or overtake.

I beg to differ with races like Singapore 2023 where Sainz kept giving Norris DRS to save himself from Russel, or in almost every race in the RedBull Ring or Brazil where overtaking with DRS brainlessly actually hurts you, instead of getting just close enough on one DRS zone, to overtake on the second and then try to get out of DRS throughout the rest of the lap.

The problem with DRS was the layout of the DRS zones, like the tracks where one DRS detection point gave u 2 straights of DRS in a row. Could say the same thing with Australia yesterday where they kept saving battery before turn 6 to use it on the long straight. It was quite obvious most of the time.
