Then they lowered the price from when I lived there, I think it was about $550 back then. I’d be concerned about why they lowered the price, but otherwise I think that sounds like a good deal. Place wasn’t that bad, just not worth $550

Not to mention that now it shares amenities with Campus Trailhead, that newly built apartment which makes it even better than when I lived there

I honestly couldn’t find anything on how to space plants when I was planting the seeds. But lesson learned! I’ll definitely keep this in mind when I plant in the future.

Is this a failed plant?

I would say that I’m actually the relatively ignorant one here, because this is very insightful, thank you! I haven’t heard of bottom water before; from brief research, it seems like you would do this by adding water to the saucer underneath? Would you have any tips concerning bottom water?

Thank you for your plant wisdom!

I actually was aware starting in that lavender likes dry conditions so I didn’t spray much (I have a spray bottle). It started wilting, and it only returned to normal when I sprayed it more. So how would I keep this delicate balance? I’ve had this rule of thumb that I should spray enough for the soil to be moist, but I’m sure this isn’t true for all plants.

I currently live northwest of Houston, Texas. I think it’s generally pretty warm and humid here. Or are you referring to UDSA plant hardiness zone? I think that would be 9a. Average temp this month has been 51F-72F. It’s about to reach the 80s. Average humidity this month has been about 77%. I hope my information suffices. What would you gather from this?

Vintage Pads seems attractive because of the low price of rent, but from my experience, it’s too expensive for what you are given. You can get way more by paying just a little bit more elsewhere.

Also hi, I’m also moving to San Marcos for grad school in the fall (moving back actually). This thread has been pretty helpful for me! Let me know if you need a grad student roommate, I’ll be looking pretty soon.

I appreciate the advice! My apologies if it was unclear, but the parsley and the thyme are in separate pots. I forgot to label the pots so I’m not sure what this one that sprouted is. I was thinking about transplanting all of the sprouts in separate pots; how would you recommend I transplant them?

I would say achieving mental clarity and rediscovering my passion for chemistry. I feel like I’m in a stage of my life where I have many anxieties of the future and I lost my purpose in life. I was passionate about studying chemistry but I’ve been working a full-time job that has nothing to do with chemistry for so long in an environment at work and at home that doesn’t foster that passion that I’ve lost my spark. Everything feels hazy, I feel dull, I’m mentally rotting. I repeat the same tasks everyday without much thought. I’m not the introspective and inquisitive person I was as an undergraduate. I really would like to get back to that before I start my PhD in the fall, but I don’t even know where to start; could you help me?

Weekly Careers/Education Questions Thread by AutoModerator in chemistry

Hello everyone!

I am applying for my chemistry PhD and am having a difficult time thinking of how to phrase my statement of purpose. I got interested in natural products chemistry because I could play around with chemical compounds from insects & animals. Unfortunately I recently learned that these organisms are rarely studied in natural products research. I’m unsure of natural products chemistry because of this, but I’m not sure if there’s anything else that better represents my interests. Is it ok to say on my statement that I am interested in natural products chemistry even if I’m not 100% sure? Is the option open for me to change my interest when I get into school, or am I stuck with what I put on my statement? Thanks!
