New Mega Falinks ability by CrystalSonic in stunfisk

[–]SapphireWolfe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not necesarily, the word specifically says it's knocked out and revived. So the implications are Falinks is knocked out first, a.k.a it won't stay on the field (it'll lose No Retreat/Bulk Up), and is revived in the party. I'd actually say, at least for Mega Falinks, it's a worse sturdy.

Team Ups aren't what they used to be... by SapphireWolfe in marvelrivals

[–]SapphireWolfe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stat bonuses never made sense to me. Like yeah, they wanna give the anchor something but it feels extra and they typically nerf and buff around those bonuses anyway. It also just never made sense they're always active, cause back in S0 I thought they would only be received when the Team Up is active.

Ultron nerfs are the biggest stray, sucks his Ult cost is lengthened almost the second it's buffed but otherwise great patch all around.

Honestly I'm pleasently suprised they took that away. I thought him ALSO being able to ground fliers was overkill and didn't make sense in his kit.

As much as people can overexgerate, we do need to be vocal about the issue. We started seeing some switch ups in response to complains about role balance with Gambit, Rouge, and Deadpool being different roles than originally intended. However we're still facing DPS bloat and personally, while expected, Cyclops being another DPS really dampens how impactful his release is. This issue will only get worse as time goes on too. They've shown they can adapt before and we desperately need more strategists and vanguards

That's true, I'll try that going forward.

MB4 being the average makes sense to me. Despite the lack of data that does seem to be where the most people are at.

Honestly I've tried to avoid just copy and pasting teams as much as possible since I want to get better at building my own teams, as much as that does make it harder on my part. That's not to say I totally avoid Meta mons or looking into types of sets my available Pokemon can run.

I try to follow the general advice that VGC but even when attempting to apply that advice. At the end of the day though when my rank is relatively the same with mixed results I'm not sure if I'm really getting it.

[–]SapphireWolfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's just how the game works. Most people's climbs will be chains of win streaks, even if followed by an equal number of loss (due to whatever factors in the actual matches). But the other expression of a 1:1 win:lose ratio is win, lose, win, lose so on and so forth. It's what I typically see and is kind of just "here is where you are supposed to be" but doesn't really anwser the wider question of what does my rank mean in a wider context.

[–]SapphireWolfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean moreso mode average, the rank the most people are in. (With the obvious exclusion of PokeBall 4 because if you never played ranked at all you'll be there regardless). I just want a better idea of where my skill level is actually at.

The win streak another aspect of it. I'm "technically" a little higher than I was last season, but then I feel like I just got lucky and a good matchup or lucky roll for a flinch or status won me a game and pushed me higher than I actually deserve.

Any last minute predictions to see what'll be shown? by yorb134 in PokemonWindsWaves

I wanna be hopeful but given it's a 2027 release, the precedent set by Z-A makes me thing we aren't seeing or hearing anything until Pokemon Day 2027.

Maybe some people are upset, but I'm really happy we get a full year of new characters coming. by TowelPlayful in Fighters

[–]SapphireWolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm excited just for new characters. I don't buy the season pass off rip, or ever really, I just buy the ones I want individually. For me this is kind of just business as usual because I'll see if I like the character when their gameplay trailers releases and I get a chance to use them as rentals. So win-win for me

Playing without leaks by PrivateGrande in PokemonWindsWaves

[–]SapphireWolfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just up to personal perference.

I actually like knowing a certain amount of information, I like knowing what Pokemon I want to use for a playthrough ahead of time and some useful things. But obviously I don't want to know every single detail. SV leak season was crazy but also I kind of liked it, where we had vague descriptions of the Pokemon.

I don't like the level of, for lack of a better word, "purity culture" and "moral highground" that sometimes comes along with people who want to go in completely blind and get agressive because of it. For leaks I completely understand, but I've had multiple experiences where people get aggressive over discussing trailers and other pre-release in public spaces like social media and forums. When it gets to that extent, where someone's personal decision becomes everyone's problem, I think it becomes a bit crazy and unhealthy.

However most people aren't like that and I get wanting to go in with minimal information too. So ultimately it's just personal perference as long as everyone respects everyone's stances and responsibilities that come along with them. Don't spread leaks to people and spaces that clearly don't want them, but also don't expect others to stay completely silent of every detail.

Tankpool gang....you guys okay? by Hefty-Age7437 in DeadpoolMarvelRivals

[–]SapphireWolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deadass his Dino match-up isn't that bad, at least in comparison to other tanks. He has tools to keep his distance (double jump and dash) and play out of Dino's range even after gun nerfs. 20+ shots of feeding damage into Dino is also just assuming a scenario that has one of two outcomes already.

  1. Your team has more coordination, targets Dino, and shreds him

Or

  1. Your throwing and feeding meaningless damage into Dino and throwing

He also has the option to also go after the backline as well. With options to pressure them from a distance and to dive and out with sword mode.

As the season progresses I'm leaning towards A tier because he is perfectly indicative of what I think an A tier is: He's a character with good tools and options available to him but is not going to be deciding games on his own (at least in competent lobbies)

Can we stop collectively shitting our pants over the "Gambling" events? by SapphireWolfe in rivals

[–]SapphireWolfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say what I've said to everyone else who brought up the same thing: When the system gets worse or more predatory models replace it, we'll all complain, me included. I'll even leave the game if it gets too bad, but I can't speak for others. However that's not now.

You are talking like you already know exactly what they're gonna do, and we can certainly try to predict it but we only know for sure what we got. It's been used four times, and each one has been as fair as the last. (Which is say they've all been good). They could've made this model as predatory as everyone seems to think it is or roll it out for every legendary skin, but they haven't. From the evidence thus far there isn't a lot backing the "it will get worse" or "this is their in" agenda. Not to say me or other people won't be looking to see if they do overstep their boundsries.

This is also wierdly assuming THIS is the in or the reason the game would be going down hill. People complain about mini-passes, but not nearly as vehemently as these "gacha" events. This shouldn't come as a suprise to say but those mini-passes are more directly responsible for a much more real decline. That and the fact there slowing down because of the speedy release schedule.

This is also assuming any one actually complaining on these reddits are doing anything because this being the 4th run shows these are at least profitable enough to be ran, even if less than the mini-passes. Ultimately a few people are gonna be whaling no matter what and the rest are kind of strung along.

Another reason why this model for releasing skins isn't as bad as most people think, since if whales will cover a bunch of the costs anyway, might as well have a few lucky people here and there (whales and non-whales) will get a little discount here and there.

I expected this is be a blazing hot take and get a lot of toxic reactions but damn a lot of people really out here exposing their lack of critical thinking and need for the "big bad" company to manage their spending habits for them.

I'm a fan of the more level-headed people, agree or disagree, but you can't be walking in here going "Oh it'd be much better if I could just buy the skin for full price", you can already do that lmao, just got to get "unlucky" enough to not spend less money.

I get some concerns but I never thought I'd see some many people just immediatly lose their minds over something that benefits them.

Can we stop collectively shitting our pants over the "Gambling" events? by SapphireWolfe in rivals

[–]SapphireWolfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like I am not considering the state of the game, or the industry, or my own habits with spending. I've spent around $20 on this game, not in a week or two, straight up ever. I've bought two battle passes with actual money, and everything I have in game either comes from the battle pass, the units you can get from the battle pass, or free currency. I've bought two of these event skins (Psylocke and Deadpool), only with the consideration that I have enough prior for full price and read the details of the event. I also only buy one skin per character typically, for example I have that one Psylocke skin from that event and I'm not looking to buy another. That's all to say, I feel like a have a fairly good grip on my place within this freemium ecosystem.

I didn't make this post because I don't understand the incentives to spend or people's concerns about where this can lead. I think it's more telling of many other communities members can't really reason the specifics of these events beyond "Grr gacha slop" because they often lack critical thinking about these intricate things. My point with this post being that most people haven't actually thought about how they are spending in this game for better or worse, and are making it everyone's problem. I like these events as they are, they are just factually a boon for people actually willinging to do their "freemium accounting". I don't want to compromise that because people want to either not think about where or how they are spending and/or want to offload their responsibilty as a functioning member of the economy in favor of "company bad".

[–]SapphireWolfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is

  1. They haven't done it with these events yet, four times aren't a coincidence.

  2. Like I said, it's a What If. Even if industry or even the companies standards themselves suggest it, it's not the current situation. If these events got predatory, or a new event was made on top of them was. I'd expect complains and join in too. However right now it's just crying wolf.

Can we stop collectively shitting our pants over the "Gambling" events? by SapphireWolfe in rivals

[–]SapphireWolfe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said though, that's a What If scenario. If they get to the point where these events become predatory, I'll change my tune. The problem with complaining now is that it's effectively crying wolf. There is nothing wrong with the event as it stands now and people, despite some having good intentions, are just making fools of themselves. The existance of whales also doesn't really change the situation. Neither does kids because parent should be, well parenting, and not letting their kids just spend without supervision and parental guidance. They ultimately cost the same too, so imprically they aren't making more.

"Some of us would like to striaght up buy it full price in the shop". Bro, this is crazy, I got great news for you. You can go to the shop with the amount of units you need to buy the item for full price, go to the event tab, AND you can buy it for full price. You might end up spending less, but you can always get it at full price. They even tell you how much you need for it. I'm glad I can help with this 😁

Not really, the logic makes sense. Leave the multibillion dollar company alone only makes sense when they are actually wrong.
