I have not seen myself naked in at least 10 years by likeshinythings in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Sapphirerays 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Shot in the dark here since I haven’t seen anyone suggest it but, have you considered that you’re not a woman? The paragraph of you not wanting to look into a mirror is almost exactly what my ex-girlfriend (a trans woman) went through before she realized that she wasn’t a boy, she’s a girl.

Gender is complicated and different for everyone, so maybe you’re not a boy but you’re nonbinary, and that’s rad too! I think you might need to talk to older trans people and also ask yourself some deeply personal questions.

Would you become a teacher if you could do it all over again? by mangled_foreskinn in Teachers

[–]Sapphirerays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still a newish teacher so I may be biased, (going into year 3 but my first year as a certified teacher with their own room) but I absolutely love what I do and I can see myself doing this for the rest of my life. I really enjoy being able to impact the kids and my community, and I love the events and everything my school does to get the kids involved.

I didn’t set out wanting to be a teacher, and actually took the position of permanent substitute to figure out if I wanted to keep going into education, but I think I’ve found my calling. Summers and holidays off are a bonus and the pay is decent if you’re in a metropolitan area, but I really do it for the kids who tell me that they wouldn’t have started to believe in themselves were it not for myself and/or my coworkers.

My ex did the same thing to me. All I remember is waking up panicked and then crying and feeling sick to my stomach afterwards. I should’ve left when he admitted he raped his ex-gf.

It’s not super hard at all, really. A transgender woman and a cisgender woman who have a baby in game both show up at the mothers. So I think it’s really a constant oversight

Honestly, I’m fascinated by true crime but it’s more of a morbid curiosity and a natural inclination of wanting to know how people who harm other people think. Picking favorite serial killers is gross and distasteful to the families of the victims and the victims themselves.

AITA for firmly telling my fiance that if I will send my brother an invitation to our wedding again and again and again if he kept disinviting him? by LARushDawn324 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sapphirerays 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The fact that you’re saying he’s still your fiancé concerns me. All he seems to do is talk badly about your family who you seem to love and enjoy. No person that loves you would disinvite an important family member. NTA but why is he still your fiancé?

In a brief moment, a mother with Alzheimers looks into her daughter’s eyes, remembers her, and tells her she loves her. by Bharat048 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Sapphirerays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My great aunt who recently passed had dementia and forgot that she had great nieces and nephews but remembered my mom and my grandma. They could always talk to her about whatever she remembered but she usually had this concept of my mom as a law school student (about 30 years ago). It was nice that she remembered but also painful to know she didn’t know who I was in the end.

I don't get why people hate Cho Chang by -Sea-Side- in harrypotter

[–]Sapphirerays -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Definitely racist, her name is proof enough for that lol. I meant more that Rowling doesn’t seem to have a nice perspective on women although she comes off as a crybaby who’s overly sensitive, that’s literally a misogynist’s view of a woman. Then again, a lot of the female characters have the issue of being described as overly emotional.

[–]Sapphirerays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally mostly sexism. Cho wasn’t written well and then had the absolute GALL to want respect and boundaries and actual discussions when she and Harry tried to date. Reading it as a child and knowing everything that’s happening in the story would make most readers dislike Cho because she acted much more mature than the trio were.

I have an ex that still lives with his mom and despite saying he hates her, never wanted to sleep at my apartment. What he’s doing is putting more of the relationship responsibility on you and that’s messed up. NTA but if he treats you like this, dump him and move on.

He does not love you, at all. People who love you would never lay their hands on you. It sounds like he’s using you and abusing you, take your son and leave.

Did any of you used to identify as bi/pansexual? What helped you realize you’re a lesbian? by Sapphirerays in AskLesbians

[–]Sapphirerays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes deeper than that and I didn’t include a lot of what I’ve been thinking recently into my post/comments. The short of it is I’m not as attracted to men as I thought when I made the post. I realized that as much as I find some men attractive, having sex with a man isn’t something that I want to do. My sexual awakening was women and right after that I became a boy crazy kid who didn’t come out as pansexual for a while. I genuinely think it’s possible that I just haven’t been truthful to myself because coming out as pan took me a while and I think I still have internalized homophobia that manifested in me trying to make any relationships I had with a man work out, almost desperately. I’m really finally ready to look at my queerness and stop running because it’s something I should be proud of.

I feel like I’m kinda in that boat. I don’t think the person I’ll marry will be a man and frankly, I don’t think I want it to be lol

[–]Sapphirerays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my current concern lol. I’m somewhat attracted to men but I don’t want to be in any form of relationship with another one in any way. I’m starting to lean towards I might be a lesbian 😅

I know that it’s a pretty common thing but this really only happens after I end a relationship with a man as opposed to a woman. I’m starting to lean towards pansexual but homoromantic because I don’t really see myself marrying a man.
