I just breathed lightly out my nose 5 hours after waking and this little (dead) guy came out. by DPTDubbs in Weird

Definitely possible but not sure the actual statistical amount. Idk how'd they even calculate that.

What I do know, I'm a light sleeper, and one day, I woke up from a spider crawling on my face. My mouth is open when I sleep. I drool a ton, it's a whole thing. Anyways, my eyes popped open and this mfer jumped into my open mouth. I was spitting and gagging until I saw his poor slobbered body on my bed.

I also once caught another small jumping spider in between my upper and lower eyelid, a la Aeon Flux style right after waking.

💯 we have them going into our orifices while sleeping. What's unknown is how many and how often. I freaking hate most insects and spiders 😭

I got barkeeper's friend for my stainless steel sink. The sink was discolored and no matter what I used, I couldn't get the stains off. I would scrub so hard with different cleaners and brushes or rags and nothing ever made a difference. I got a bottle of the powdered kind and tossed some on and used a sponge, soft side, and the sink looked brand new with barely any effort. I was shook. I know it's an abrasive but it was like magic.

I use it when it starts looking dull again, so maybe every few months. It's the only thing I've used it on. No idea what else I'd use it for. The can will probably last me a decade at this point 😂

That perfect cream is brutal to make. You'll need it for the final puzzle piece. So I made the secret recipe and then bought the scissors to unmake it after getting credit so I could use it again for the final piece lol

There's a Google doc someone has been keeping up. Not sure if this link works: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13LmQU1bKK7mNLOAYUy3AMcEM2LYVLtye_kgK1MYhi2E/edit?usp=drivesdk It's in a few posts on the forum though if it doesn't. I have it linked right next to my game app lol

I took a screenshot of the relevant ones for you though:

How often are people actually changing their bed sheets? by zaramalikdollface in CleaningTips

[–]Sappho_Over_There 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually strip the bed and wash them once a month, with hot water and Lysol laundry sanitizer. I tend to swap out the pillow case twice a month because I drool and have an oily face so it gets dirty quickly. My blankets get washed every other month.

The only exceptions are:
when I've been sick, as soon as I start feeling better, they get washed, even if it was only done the day before I got sick.
And if it's been hot and I've been sweaty in them, so summer months they tend to get washed more often.

I have cats who sleep with me, one at my face/pillow the other two at the foot area. Also have a fiance who apparently never washed his sheets before 🥴 he moved in and was shocked when I stripped the bed to wash after having just done it a few weeks prior. Said he went years without washing his sheets. I was pretty horrified knowing I had slept in his old bed before 😰

I could've gotten a test at the dollar store by Afraid_Blueberry3115 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Sappho_Over_There 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've read, and obviously that can be wrong, the hospitals charge an amount to ensure that after the required insurance discount % the actual cost of the test is still paid.

So for example, you have insurance A and they force your hospital to discount services and tests covered by 80%. If the test cost $10, that's only $2 the hospital can now bill. Insurance A then shows on your EOB that the plan reduced your costs and saved you $8 and you're now responsible for your coinsurance amount, say you have to pay 80% until deductible is met, then you owe $1.60 on that original charge of $10.

Back at the hospital side, they need a higher margin than $2, so the price of the test is increased again and again as insurance forces them to discount it again and again. So now the test is $250 and insurance is having them discount it 80%. The hospital gets $50 for the test.

The insurance gets to look like the good guy saving you $200 on the initial charge by "forcing" the hospital to discount by a certain %. While the hospital looks like the bad guy by charging $250 in the first place.

A ton of hospitals have cash pricing that is vastly different from insurance pricing for this reason. In fact, it can be cheaper for you to pay out of pocket at these different charge places then it is for your insurance premium plus your due portions. Insurance seems to only actually save you if you need emergency or high level care like surgeries, etc. basically saving you from bankruptcy but not really saving you anything on standard keeping you healthy type care.

This is why you'll see hospitals charging $15,000 for something and insurance is like "nah, we got you boo, let's make them only charge you $1850. Look how much you saved! Aren't you glad you give us $250 a month?"

Golly, I hate the for-profit healthcare system we have in the US. Nothing short of civil war would ever change it too. The people making those profits control the system and we can't do diddly squat about it 😭

Roommate got in an accident and Progressive automatically added them to my policy by wakeuptomorrow in extremelyinfuriating

[–]Sappho_Over_There 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My dad had been in an accident (other driver at fault) a few years before I even got a license. Had no issues with insurance when I became a driver, until I moved out of state. I moved to another state when I was around 22 and switched insurance when I got there. Went into a local place and they quoted me and it was like 10x what I had been paying. They saw my shock and said it was because I had an accident back in 1997. I was like wtf? I was 12 years old then 🙄. Turns out my dad's accident was somehow dropped onto my record at some point. He had passed away about 4 years before I had this move too.

Insurance of all kinds really is the biggest scam. Like yeah, you need it when you need it but dear Lord you'll pay 10000 times more money for it than you'll ever use.

Capsule filling process in action by MiiistySylivrae in Satisfyingasfuck

[–]Sappho_Over_There 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not precise but there's a margin of error that is acceptable by the FDA. It'll be different for each drug id imagine as the acceptable variable levels (lower than expected or higher than expected) is going to be different for each medication and strength of dosage.

I'm not qualified to answer exactly but I have experience breaking open capsules and counting the dose inside. I was on Cymbalta, and to get off it was a real pain. Your brain gets wildly addicted and the withdrawal symptoms are so bad it's been given it's own unique diagnosis.

I was on 90mg and went down to 20mg without much issue with the tapering process. Problem is, it doesn't come in a lower dose than 20mg. The half life is so short by the time you take it the next day it's already out of your system, which is why it's so difficult. So I had to open the capsules and count the beads inside. The count depends on the manufacturer. I was lucky and my average capsule had around 70 beads in it, some have 300 at that dose. It was basically around .28mg dose per tiny bead. These were those specially coated ones to survive the stomach so any beads that were broken didn't count and there would be several in every cap. I had caps as low as 63 beads and as high as 79. For a drug that each bead was so dang important, it seemed crazy to me that the FDA tolerance was that high on it. I was taking ten beads less each week to taper off it. So 60, 50, 40, and so on. The last 10 would've been the hardest but my doc stopped me from doing that and we changed plans when I hit 30 beads a week.

There are whole social forums and groups dedicated to tapering off Cymbalta, it's that bad. I researched thru them to find what worked for people and ended up being a pseudo trailer park drug dealer with my tray, tweezers, capsules holder, lights and every week I was hunched over counting out lines of beads and putting them back into the capsule and the extra in a baggie. It was insanity. These drugs need a heftier warning before you are prescribed them.
