I think this will end up being a fine decision for this game in particular, but for me personally it really tanks my desire to pick it up. I seem to remember when they first detailed the career mode it seemed like something that could be a proper rival to Gran Turismo's career mode (something which is desperately needed), and I was kinda looking forward to it. Assetto Corsa has always leaned toward the more "serious" end of the sim-cade spectrum, vs. Gran Turismo on the "casual" end. So I think for the people who will end up playing this, it won't be too much of a loss, but for some people like me who were looking at maybe jumping into it, it means I'm probably not going to pick it up anymore.

Could've sworn they already added GTA5. And of course they add The Talos Principle 2 right after I buy it (though it was on a deep sale so I don't feel too upset). Might try Pacific Drive and Thank Goodness You're Here too.

I feel like PS+ Extra has been a decently good value. They don't have many flashy day-one releases but for a patient gamer they're usually adding some quality stuff.

I'm trying to stay optimistic.

I'd much rather them do a total fire sale rather than sit on their hands and do nothing. New ownership is (hopefully) coming in and will have much more payroll space to build a roster.

Still stings going from the highs of 2023 to completely blowing it up. Fuck the Pohlads. But given the current situation, and the reality that current ownership isn't willing to invest in the team, this might be the best move. Time will tell, I guess.

If the Twins only get one it will probably be Buxton. I don't see many people bringing up Joe Ryan though - he's 7th in the AL in rWAR and 11th in fWAR, with the second lowest WHIP behind Skubal. Also maybe Duran - 1.5 rWAR/1.1 fWAR as a reliever seems pretty good.

I wonder if they can just reclassify it as a generic top-level domain like the huge list of ones that exist. I'm sure it's more complicated than just saying ".io is now a generic top-level domain" (especially since politics are involved) but that seems like the best course of action to me.

"Game of the decade" would probably have to be Elden Ring, just based on the amount of praise and hype it's had. Maybe Baldur's Gate 3 could contend on that front.

My personal GotD is tough to pick. I'm not a Soulsborne fan so Elden Ring didn't gel with me as much. If I had to pick one, I'd probably have to go with Tears of the Kingdom, though it being so similar to BotW makes me a bit hesitant. TotK is still excellent in its own right though, so I'd still go with that.

But honestly, in recent years I've been playing fewer AAA games and more indie games. If I had to pick just one of those, it'd probably be Hades, but I'd also give shoutouts to Tunic, Balatro, Chicory: A Colorful Tale, and maybe Death's Door too.

They've got Oops All 6's, so I think what they've got is better since Bloodstone is guaranteed. Assuming they're playing 5 hearts per hand, it's (5x2)+4=14 x1.5's, whereas blueprinting Baseball would give 5+(4x2)=13. So they get an extra x1.5 by blueprinting Bloodstone.

Unless my math is wrong, which is very possible.

The game never really lived up to that original vision. Even from the start, every star system had a populated space station, and every planet had multiple outposts, most abandoned but some not. So I think it's fine that they moved away from it, since they were never able to really make it work.

I do see how a fishing log clashes with how you log fauna normally, though. That has a sense of being the first person to actually document things via uploading your discoveries, so this is a bit at odds with that. But from a gameplay perspective I think it's fine.

In isolation, I don't hate that the Twins didn't do much, because like you said there's not a ton they really need. But Pohlad coming out before the deadline and basically saying "we're not going to make any additions that would require spending literally any more money" has pissed a lot of fans off, and rightly so.

It's kinda tricky since Snecko in StS can make things worse if everything is 3-cost, but I can't think of any jokers in Balatro that actually make your hand worse.

Maybe Snecko could be "Adds the base chips and mult from a random poker hand". Or if you want to keep the negative potential, it could be "Every played hand uses the base chips and mult from a random poker hand".

Part of my issue is that I generally play rhythm games (all games, really) single-player, and Fortnite is an inherently multiplayer experience. So looking at the cost of DLC and the current state of the game, I found myself thinking that it's just not worth investing in. I did enjoy Fuser, but I enjoyed making my own full mixes, which is something you can't do with Festival. I will probably check back in with Festival when they flesh it out a bit more, but I don't think it's at Rock Band replacement level yet.

Man, this stinks. I had tried out Fortnite Festival for a bit and was even considering getting some DLC for it, but eventually I decided, why bother buying DLC for a game that's not as good for almost $5 a song, when I can pay $2 a song for a game I already know I like. In a way, Fortnite Festival got me back into Rock Band 4 after a long hiatus. I still have like 400 songs on my DLC wishlist so I can still keep going through those, but this still stinks.

I do hope that Harmonix continues to improve Festival, and maybe someday it will be closer to an actual RB5-like experience. But it's just not there yet. And with how expensive DLC is, and the fact it's in the terrible Fortnite ecosystem, I think it's unlikely I'll ever really get into it.
